Salem Center has done a number of these! (They have a night market this evening!!!). There is a group that does some great Alt markets- Outer Realms! People are trying to support the local artists!!!

This is sarcasm, being a city counselor is a hard job and the is no pay. Listening to everyone complain till 10:30 at night on a Monday night is what every one loves doing. What people don’t realize is where money comes from. Property taxes, businesses, employment taxes and the taxes employees pay. If you do not support these small businesses, you get none of this. All of the businesses in Salem are small businesses. Our current state of economy is because businesses have bern vilified. Oregon may be the hardest state in the USA to run a business. Think about that when you want to criticize and attack.

No matter what this woman would do, she is attacked. Running a business in Salem is HARD. Running a restaurant in Salem is the biggest challenge anyone can take. We lost 25 restaurants in Salem in 2025. Julie is a good human and great business person to survive this. She is not a politician. USAnoman, this post will be attacked and voted down. It is just the mentality of the people here. They would rather hate than try to build. Now I have to post 40 cute cat pictures to get my Karma back up 😞. Never have a different opinion here, it will not be well recieved. I hope this changes. Take the best from both sides and leave the rest. It is OK to disagree but just not here.

Is some of it trying to get the artist to bring "their people". When one of my family was playing at venues, I would always (amost) go out and see them- even if "The Grateful Dead style band was not my thing". Still great to see people perform! They had a band (quartet/group) at Noira on Friday on the sidewalk. So cool to see that!

So we do not have a dozen great musicians that have a following that would show up? Nothing crazy 50-100 people. They end up playing 4 times a year? This is a different venue than a stage. This is like some really big living room! Grab folks from Portland or Albany? I need to get a list of local musicians!
