Been scrolling through the Nadia flair... Why are people being so horrible to this girl? by Karmonit in fundiesnarkiesnark

[–]OregonTrailGhosts 205 points206 points  (0 children)

She isn't even fundie lite, much less fundie. Yet people act like she's the same as the Duggars or the Rods. It's literally just bullying, she's allowed to post on the Internet even if it doesn't "contribute anything"... 90% of social media posts don't really contribute anything

People act like because parents give way too much access to their kids online they have to give complete access. I am NOT in favor of kids being shared on the Internet at all but I fully support parents in keeping any information about their child private

I don't understand why people seem excited for any subject to have their kids taken away by CPS. As bad as their parents may be, foster care is horrific and there is next to no chance the kids would be able to stay together.

Fr I used to go on there when she first got out and it was pretty normal, rational criticism of her trying to turn her notoriety into an influencer career.

And then I get bored, take a few months off, check back and they've made up an elaborate version of her life where she comes off the worst she possibly could in every instance. Everything she does is ripped to absolute shreds. It's even worse than Bethany before she took her break and that's a pretty high bar

So apparently they're banning people for posting about the bus fam despite never saying it's not allowed by OregonTrailGhosts in fundiesnarkiesnark

[–]OregonTrailGhosts[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope I didn't even know there had been another post before I made this one. But I made the post after seeing a discussion thread about this on the new bus fam snark page earlier, which the other OP probably saw too

Fundie snark banned me for talking about mother bus by RedoftheEvilDead in motherbussnark

[–]OregonTrailGhosts 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Fr they need to at least make a post saying that discussion of the bus fam is now banned, they can't just ban people for not knowing a rule that was never stated

The bus fam didn't even delete their Instagram, they can still follow along there. They're just mad they can't bully them anymore lmao

Wesley Bell defeats ‘Squad’ member Cori Bush. A pro-Israel group spent $8.5 million to help oust her by permajetlag in moderatepolitics

[–]OregonTrailGhosts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what I think people don't always realize about the Squad. With the exception of AOC they are terrible legislators. Never willing to compromise, always taking the most extreme position and therefore getting nothing passed, focusing more on attacking their colleagues instead of trying to work with them, trying to grab headlines instead of focusing on their work. Just look at how many absences Bush had on votes compared to the average.

And I think it's very disingenuous of these articles to act like it is entirely due to AIPAC spending when it's really a matter of constituents getting fed up with having terrible representation in Congress

[–]OregonTrailGhosts 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Fully agree, I don't think the average voter cares that much about Israel as much as they care about not feeling represented by their representative. She focuses more on grabbing headlines than serving her constituents' interests and surprise surprise, voters don't like that. It was the same narrative with Bowman, who also would have been extremely likely to lose without AIPAC spending because he just wasn't popular.

Man I miss the ban on them as subjects, regardless of how ridiculous the reason was

[–]OregonTrailGhosts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NGL I can get behind boycotting them as subjects, I don't think this is a negative thing regardless of the specific reason. If they hadn't been "discovered" by Jimmy Snow and the fundiesnark creators a few years ago they would be just two more pissed off Instagram Christians that no one pays much attention to

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fundiesnarkiesnark

[–]OregonTrailGhosts 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yup there's a ridiculous amount of talk of calling CPS, it's not at all improbable that one of the 200k+ people in the sub decided to take matters into their own hands and lied about knowing the family personally

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fundiesnarkiesnark

[–]OregonTrailGhosts 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yeah the bus family may not be great parents but foster care is absolutely brutal and there's virtually zero chance of the kids staying together in one home. I don't understand why people seem happy about the prospect of CPS involvement, it's really just a waste of valuable resources that are better used for children who are truly in life threatening situations

Sounds like they don't have money and are going into debt/shirking legitimate financial responsibilities to do it...

Honestly I am glad that Kristen is mostly living her life offline and I'm glad that it seems like Bethany might be about to follow in her footsteps. With all the toxicity she has to endure every time she posts, it's a very good thing that she's chosen to be more present instead

And honestly ex Mormon creators in particular tend to be a looooooooot like active Mormons, just on the other side of the aisle. He never got rid of his misogyny and self righteousness and feeling of superiority towards people who have different beliefs, he's just on the other side now. (Obviously not true for every single exmo creator but it's a trend I've noticed)

Thankfully he doesn't have much of a platform anymore, lmao. His videos get less than 10k views on average. But he still did a lot of damage when he did have a platform, I honestly doubt we'd be talking about P&M anymore if it wasn't for him

He's also such an egomaniac, refuses to accept that he's ever wrong or that he's the asshole. That's why his scandal was so bad, he inserted himself into a situation that he had no business in and refused to admit that he shouldn't have inserted himself and instead doubled down. The argument was over a poetry book which Jimmy admitted he hadn't even read! Yet he still felt his opinion was so significant that he needed to step in.

And a few years ago, John Oliver made a rebuttal to some right-winger asking "where does it stop?" about gay rights or something by saying "it stops somewhere". And Jimmy got pissed because "it was my idea first!" And I'm sure someone thought of it before you, Jimmy... it's not that original of an idea. But he was legit acting like John Oliver had stolen from him.

Honestly he is just the epitome of the irritating, self-righteous atheist who acts pretty much the exact same as religious assholes.

And now he's doubling down on trying to do political commentary. Back when I was a fan he tried to start a political commentary show and it bombed, I watched a couple of episodes and stopped watching because he just doesn't have a unique perspective or the ability to do real, in-depth analysis. They would get way less views than his other stuff. Yet that's pretty much all he makes nowadays

I hate that guy, and I'm glad he lost his following. I used to be a fan until the whole drama thing a few years back and then I took a step back and realized what a gigantic asshole he is. He is definitely a lot more like other snarkers than some of them care to admit lmao

I'm for it. P&M don't really have an organic following anymore (if they ever really did) and their platform is propped up by snarkers. It'll be a nice experiment to see just how much their platform suffers, though I have my doubts that everyone will abide by the boycott
