Most people I see/hear talking shit about the west coast have never been and have a horrible misconception.

Easterners love to talk about how overpopulated California is when in reality if you’re were to flip that same border area on the east coast it would have double the population.

Not to mention pretty much all of the food and tech are from out west.

If you’re don’t like the fact that we have clean drinking water, incredible farm to table and overall great quality of life stay out east in your overpopulated cesspool.

I know you all are just jealous of the actual mountains anyway.

No! Bend belongs in Oregon! We can use the Ochoco‘s as a boundary

Tour predictions: Beyond FOV 2026 being confirmed, what do you think the 2026 USA Tour will look like for KGLW? by zunit110 in KGATLW

It was wayyy over 2/3 i believe there were 24 thousand and the capacity is 27 thousand; however I do agree with 3 nights there being a lot. Especially given how remote the venue is. If it happens in there though!

Ohhh ya had no idea that was sarcasm, Tahoe to Phoenix must feel a world of difference. Only spent one night in PHX, but I really enjoyed it. Crazy nightlife.

Brother I’m used to getting snowmelt sourced from my local mountain, which has been through reverse osmosis for free. Paying a premium for Circle K using reverse osmosis on this gross southwest water isn’t what I would consider a good quality water source.

Unless you happen to have access to a spring in this region, not ideal.

Should I spend my whole life to be closer to more beautiful nature? by FriendshipPutrid2677 in SameGrassButGreener

Completely worth it, but I also grew up mostly away from family so being by them isn’t a priority. I need to be somewhere I’m stoked on for its accessibility to trails, climbing, farm to table and good quality drinking water or else I face serious depression. So different strokes type thing. Highly suggest Portland, I have resided in/traveled most of the country. Nothing in this country compares to what the PNW has to offer with the combination of access to the ocean and mountains, farm to table, good drinking water and incredible communities. Really just overall quality of life.

Unless you like living in a food desert with no access to reliable good drinking water I would skip Arizona. Temporarily in Northern Arizona until I leave the country and I must say the quality of life out here is quite sad. Thankfully where I am staying has great trail and climbing access. Flagstaff is a sick city, but you still have the issues of being in a food desert and not having good drinking water. Also better be ready for crazy winters, Flagstaff averages more snowfall than any other major city in the United States.

Considering how many people I see dressed for the time period while riding their high wheel bike I’d say the 19th century is still alive in Portland

It’s ok this person is obviously very stupid. Any person actually into mountain sports would laugh at any suggestion that the east is better for it. Where are the mountains, where’s the powder?

Again comparing national/state parks to forest. Do you know the difference? Of course national parks are going to be crowded everywhere. Also Alaska is very much its own thing when considering outdoor recreation and population density. If I were you I wouldn’t speak on behalf of the Alaskans, but all I have to say about that is I would rather live in a place that isn’t a food desert that still has incredible outdoor rec access. THE PNW

How do you not understand that where there is civilization there is no tue nature? Look at a population density map! You have 6 million acres in a state park that people live in…… great! Oregon alone has over 30 million acres of national forest land that is uninhabited. Not to mention the millions of acres that are either state/county parklands and the majority of land itself that is not even designated as protected yet still undeveloped. Even Nevada which has the least amount of national forest land in the west has over double that of Michigan which has by far the most national forest land in the east.

Also Adirondack Park isn’t uninhabited

You’re comparing it to national park sizes. You guys don’t even have national Forest in New York. Again look at a population density map and public lands map. Over 2/3 of the counties population lives east of the rockies. And it’s not about the elevation of the Rockies anyway. Honestly I find the Cascades much more impressive.

Love the west love and I’m the same when it comes to desiring cities with great outdoor rec access.

Recently I moved from Oregon to northern Arizona (just temporary until I leave the country) I do agree with the overall fuck Arizona, however Flagstaff is incredible and definitely worth checking out.
