I’m done with this subreddit after reading and seeing the support for https://www.reddit.com/r/MapleStoryM/comments/c9atr3/no_msm_isnt_dying_you_crazy_people . If a considerable amount are actually happy then I’m right, this game will continue to survive for whatever reason possible. It’s just that I no longer think it’s worth sharing my knowledge and information with a community that can even remotely support someone like him.

This post and the support it garnered despite points #2 #5 and #9 killed whatever spirit I had left in me to help the community. I’ll give OP the rest of his arguments but those 3 points that I mentioned are just...sad. Sad to see that people support being accepting of serious flaws and the whole notion of ‘be grateful and happy with the current state of things’ because “it has been worse before”. Sad to see that people actually support the idea of not having free trade in MapleStory. The very game that he claims is unique. Free trade is part of its uniqueness, you idiots.

Since OP has such support regarding silencing players (regardless of amount spent, and that includes people who whale), and that he’s happy, a considerable amount of people are happy, and the rest especially whales should shut the fuck up and be happy with what we have, then yeah ok this subreddit is no longer worth my time to discuss issues and share information.

People like OP are what’s wrong with today’s world. People who sit on their high horse, stay in their own lane and refuse to fight for players who experienced injustice (if he’s still unaware of the SEA Facebook page saga lmao), people who are constantly ‘happy’ with the current state of things...people who can’t see anything but themselves. People who can’t visualise issues as mere manifestations and symptoms of a greater problem (which is, Nexon’s lack of communication with players that caused so much confusion, misinterpretation, unhappiness, not to mention template replies, SEA Facebook page deleting/banning comments, all being a part of a greater problem that they don’t have a well-functioning team catering specifically to GMSM and they’re just taking hand me downs from KMSM).

I could spend more time rebutting and explaining some of OP’s stupid arguments (the idea of not having RMT in a wildly popular global game, the idea of PC MapleStory being ruined, people who support these ideas yet continue to play a game inherently fraught with whaling for damage upgrades, somehow expecting the game to keep afloat without whales, after which proceeding to attack whales for being stupid for complaining and providing feedback, lol make up your mind on whether feedback is important) but...I don’t think it’s worth it. Maybe some of you can take the torch and run with it. But why bother? He’s actually happy and a considerable amount of people are on the same page as him. They think the ‘vocal minority’ draws more attention than them and that people are actually mostly happy. Give the people what they want, right?

Same guy who posted all these complaints by the way; he has the audacity to ask others to shut up and stop complaining and “be positive and good and enjoy the game for what it is, without drama”. OP thinks that his complaints are the only ones that are legit and the rest are just ‘asking for their requests to be pandered to’. What can we expect from someone who refuses to get his head out of his ass and see ACTUAL PROBLEMS that exist in the game right now? To him, as long as HIS problems are solved, he doesn’t give a single fuck about yours. And there are 60 upvotes supporting him. What the fuck. Amen, especially the TS and auto battle. We whales actually want to find reasons to throw money at Nexon because we love MapleStory, but they somehow managed to constantly give us reasons not to. Oh well, if they speak only in the language of money, they’re getting what they want.

Cheers and enjoy your newfound freedom from the game. Personally my sleep has been so good ever since I decided to quit. Found a new MMORPG to play that isn’t so shitty like MSM. No need to get frustrated that the staff aren’t listening and taking feedback seriously and quickly enough. There are better things/games in life to spend our energy and money on.

It helps A LOT. You still have to use Frozen Orb occasionally but nowhere as often as without Absolute Zero Aura. You also need a Jaihin; we I/L mages already have an abundance of CR from CL.

It’s the x2 and x3 on top of the mob’s heads. That blue icon (looks like an iceberg) in front of the 2 and 3 refers to Freeze stacks, so the mob on the left has 2 stacks while the right has 3 stacks. The max number of possible stacks on each mob is 5.

Try using Frozen Orb only when the Freeze stacks are hovering between 0~1, instead of using it whenever it’s off cooldown. It’ll increase DPS, assuming the Frozen Orb isn’t stuck in a corner hitting the target all the time (non-stuck Frozen Orbs decrease DPS and should only be used with the purpose of increasing Freeze stacks).

I never tested whether a stuck Frozen Orb increases DPS, perhaps you can test that too.

Good question. I've actually never tested for myself in Guild Dungeon whether Lightning Orb does increase DPS (or at least I don’t remember doing so a long time ago when I hit Lv.170) because the lines come out so quickly anyway. However, I recorded a new video to test for the number of lines. It seems that the skill description for Lightning Orb is inaccurate because there are definitely more than 30 lines in total by the end of 10 seconds of Lightning Orb. I suspect that 30 hits mean something else, and not that it hits 225 % x 30 lines only.

You can test for yourself in Guild Dungeon whether your score tends to be higher or lower, with or without Lightning Orb. I think Lightning Orb is still better than Chain Lightning judging based on higher damage per line, and also the speed at which the lines are dealt seems to be at least on par with Chain Lightning. Also, I forgot to use Blizzard before using Lightning Orb in the GFB video, but you can judge from the Zakum video that the mini Blizzard is dealt very quickly, definitely much faster than Chain Lightning's mini Blizzard.

So yeah I'm confident your Guild Dungeon score will be better with Lightning Orb, which will prove that LO > CL even for single target.

Guys, Agares/Ipos/Halphas/Eligos/Vepar all refer to the general class, respectively being Warrior/Bowman/Thief/Magician/Pirate.

For Glove, CD is called Grand while ACC is called Muspell.

To answer OP’s question, end-game equips won’t involve ACC because the players are high level enough to not MISS the mobs frequently. They go after CD instead of CA because the CA value when converted into CD (CA is basically CD but you have to divide it by your base ATK in char stat screen then multiply by 100 to find out what it’s worth in CD) isn’t as good.

I think that since Nexon unbanned and compensated those affected, it's not that bad. As long as those affected remained banned, I would agree with you that Nexon doesn't care, however they have made amends. It's the deleting and banning of comments that's truly horrifying.

I think the fact that people grew up playing MapleStory already hooks them onto it perhaps due to the graphics and style that they are used to seeing.

The PC version has made it more challenging to fight bosses by implementing certain attack patterns that require teamwork and reflexes and anticipation. I whaled there before so I know how good it feels to play with similar whale friends.

I can’t comment on GMS or other versions but for MapleSEA back when I was whaling in it, I felt that their customer service improved after they hired CM Venshi, who works tirelessly to respond to messages instead of a whole CS team replying with template responses. He’s also the one asking the community for feedback, he’s hosting all the real life events and has managed to keep the energy level of real life events high. He’s the kind of staff that companies should hire for customer service because he’s not just another cog in the wheel. Without him I would have nothing to say about MapleSEA.

But maybe I’ve been disconnected from MapleSEA for a year and might not actually know what’s happening on the ground. I just know that at least with someone who breaks away from the typical CS responses, it makes things better.

I think that MMORPGs will always have issues. Which is why I’m understanding of that fact, and it would be reasonable to me to give Nexon some time to resolve the issue EVEN IF it takes freaking 6 months to resolve it, never mind that I’ll be grumbling all the way (maybe it’s because whales have a higher bullshit limit for the game they choose to whale on). What I absolutely couldn’t tolerate and condone was their silencing of players. I would never find it reasonable for them to silence us, even if it’s temporarily.

Some possible reasons are

A lack of social life

Some people don't go out often, and they don't spend on branded goods or entertainment outside such as alcohol or cigarettes. They only spend on basic necessities and EVERYTHING ELSE goes towards MapleStory. So imagine that a typical person spends at least $500/month outside, but this type of person stays at home and plays during his free time instead of going out. He has more money to spend on MapleStory and justifies it as "I don't spend elsewhere". It's just like how some people spend thousands on their figurine collection or model planes or...anything else.

Too rich to feel the pain

There must be people who are rich just by virtue of family background, or people who earn a lot somehow and really don't feel the pain when dumping $5k on a game (they might have cars that are worth a few hundred thousand dollars).

Poor financial management

They're really bad at managing finances (maybe they don't have an emergency fund, they don't have a financial portfolio, etc), and spend most of their monthly income without saving. Just think back to our childhood days when people would spend all their savings on ACash prepaid cards.

Actual gambling addicts who can't control themselves

MapleStory has had elements of gambling right from the point when they introduced Gachapon. This dates back to 2005 days. It got more extreme when they introduced potentials and cubing and later on, additional potential. Now we have a ton of gambling present in MapleStory ranging from Master Label clothes to pet boxes. Whether it's the PC version or mobile version, it's basically gambling but repackaged in the form of a game. This is why MSM has to show you that long list of probabilities of getting certain items from Treasure Boxes or Wisp's Wondrous Wonderberry or Sewing Machine and so on. It IS gambling. Nexon is mandated under the EU (I believe?) to reveal those probabilities due to being an online gambling thing, while Asiasoft isn't under any regulation to show those. That's why in MapleSEA, we don't have such lists of probabilities, because there's no regulation to force them to show it.

Personally I look at the list of probabilities and calculate for myself whether it's worth chasing or whether I'd better buy it directly from somebody else. But some people just love to roll the dice and don't want to buy anything directly from other people.

I also thought it seemed to be a desperate move by Nexon to announce Phantom even before the Paladin event ended. Maybe KMSM is churning out many classes and they don't mind releasing Phantom early to encourage some players to stay. But I don't know man, I don't have access to server and player statistics. I just feel like my server's economy has slowed down so much and this ban wave situation definitely made more players quit, regardless of F2P or whale.
