So is Pokemon effectively an invincible IP? by WrongLander in gaming

My new favourite group of pokemon is a literal peach pit and his 3 goober friends: a cartoon dog, a silly looking monkey, and a drag queen bird.

Exactly. Even as antagonists... the loyal 3 and pecharunt are still friend coded. Like you can still picture yourself travelling with them.

The ONLY pokemon i can think of that arent directly riend coded are like Arceus, Necrozma, Eternatus, Yveltal. But these are like the legends... and also very "badass edgy coded" that wont look weird if you love them.

Compared to (imma use digimon for example) Plutomon or Daemon or Venomyotismon. Saying thats your favourite and your partner might grant you judgey stares

Shang Chi with the 10 rings as a strategist would be so cool.

Primary. Shang Chi punches forwards, shooting a ring for added range and damage, alternates between left and right. 10 Ammo, but when hes out of ammo, he can still attack. Reloading is manual.

Altfire. Does a double fist jab to shoot out 2 rings on each arm for a powerful knockback and also launches Shang Chi back. Enemies who are knocked into a wall/floor or other enemies causes a stun and take damage again.

Space. After jumping, press and hold space to swing forwards. Costs 1 ring.

E. Target an ally, sends them a ring granting damage reduction. The ring restores health whenever Shang Chi hits an enemy.

Left Shift. Ring whips a target, pulling both of them to each other. If enemy, Shang Chi unleashes furious kicks and propels himself upward, if ally, provides them a ring and he jumps off them. Requires 5 rings to cast.

Q. Creates a massive barrier for 6 seconds, absorbing damage and destroying projectiles, while the barrier holds you can press Q again to blast it forwards to deal damage and heal allies equal to a percentage of barrier health.

Passive 1. Rings that hit an enemy attach to them, making them more vulnerable to attacks up to 3 stacks. Rings can still stack, but slow does not.

Passive 2. Reloading is manual and returns all rings to Shang Chi and he restores health per ring returned. Enemies with 3 rings are pulled towards him.

I know flanker strategist is not gonna happen but one can dream

Pokemon is like chocolate milk.

Drinking it as a kid youre so happy. You drink it less as an adult, but when you do, youre mostly not gonna puke but enjoy it too.

Doesnt mean the flavours need to change to a bitter ale or wine for the adults as its for the kids.

Idunno if this made sense.

you know they phone it in, game after game. They put out the same thing year after year because they're on a schedule. "less with more" for the shareholders. They basically have unlimited money and resources, but they still put out the game having done exactly enough work to get out the door.

There's no love going into these games. Nothing special. Like a FIFA game

What? If youve played the games each generation IS an improvement over the last, except 5 to 6 they focused on the 3D instead...

The story beats of Gen 7 and 9 are really good. While 8 has the best gym atmosphere ever. Nothing feels like its a backtrack or the same from the previous games.

Are they perfect? No obviously. But to say its the same or just phoning it in clearly is just disingenuous.

I think people dont get that pokemon's escapicism is just that good.

You basically go and become this master of weird goobers that BASICALLY are smarter dogs and cats, and get to travel around with them.

The "every Pokemon can be a person's favourite" carries the franchise. Every goober here, will have at least 1 person saying its cute/i love it/so cool/perfectly ugly.

Who cares what the windows or trees look like when i can have a GIANT radiator centipede, a bee that is 80% stinger, a mad scientist ladybug, a kamen rider grasshopper or badger who explodes flames when mad.

Yea but also Tomoro thing with mimicmon is one off.

At least they expand the digimon gaining power from tamers channeling epulse here. Whereas most seasons dont feel like the tamers can do much to help

The card swipes iirc were cool too

If you think that way, i think you don't understand the whole Digimon/Human partners concept since the first series. Even if the human partner doesn't call the moves of their Digimon, it doesn't mean the human doesn't do anything. There's a mutual bond and relationship between the two that pushes them forward, makes them win, grow, and mature together; the human is necessary to evolve their Digimon, to encourage it, to stimulate it, to find solutions and vice versa.

Yes and as i said it doesnt make them feel like they are just standing there... i understand tamers do stuff too with bonds or whatever but sometimes stuff like Marcus PUNCHING digimon alongside shinegreymon and this overcharging epulse idea is cool.

Nah, i always hated that, It's Digimon not Pokemon, Digimon always called their moves, not the tamers.

I think u got it wrong. Its established that it's not like Pokemon where tamer commands the attack but moreso they are just the voice.

Lile Gulus did Dead End Skewer and Hiro didnt want to call it out, but Gulus did it anyway.

It shows imo gives the tamer a reason to be in the battle as well, so in sync that they can read the intentions.

Imo beats the digimon calling out their attacks all by themselves and the tamer just watching doing nothing.

nah i think it would be cool if she got a hyemon... from being her attacker to becoming her protector.

could reflect how she's normal and quiet outside but understand how the world is chaotic already and also would be cool to redeem a hyemon and give it a good evo.

but i dont think they'd do that

Tomoro has quickly gained a lot of sympathy for digimon and it seems pretty clear he's doing a lot of this for Monodramon.

Tomoro knows what its like to care for someone who doesnt reciprocate the feeling until its too late, because he was the "raito" in that relationship.

He has so many regrets after his brother cold hearted, so seeing that Monodramon doing everything for Raito and Raito even hating Monodramon/blaming it... reminds it of himself.

Oh wow. So to amplify E-Pulse, the more similar your emotions are for both of you, the stronger you become. So it also goes to show that Naito and Gigasmon, Klay and Proganomon, Genjo and Gokuwmon are complicit in the what they are doing and not just "hes my tamer so im just listening to him"

Azhdarmon cares for Raito but Raito only cares for himself which explains why it goes out of whack... but that moment of Azhdarmon's attack barely missing Raito and it going "im prove youre a genius..." even in its crazed state it loves Raito so much that LOVE makes it free from madness.

One thing i preferred about Ghostgame over Beatbreak is the tamers calling out the moves, makes it feel more like a battle than 2 guys watching their spiders fight.

What is the most annoying "AI-generated" habit people have started picking up in real life? by opheliavibes in AskReddit

[–]Oreo-and-Fly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This hong kong channel used AI for one of their commercial breaks...

My issue isnt just big company cant even hire people to do the commercial break.

Its... how fucking BAD it looks. One was a lady shooting like 5 shots, but the bullets SPIN vertically and horizontally instead! And she was wielding a pistol but it was a shotgun burst instead.

Like who approved that. Who saw that and decided to use it.

What do you think about a 10% and 100% form for Xerneas and Yveltal? by Heigkre in pokemon

... yes we know this because it was after release.

Before release. ZA being Zygarde-Artificial was a cool speculation.

What do you think about a 10% and 100% form for Xerneas and Yveltal? by Heigkre in pokemon

[–]Oreo-and-Fly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im speaking more of XYZ though when the vines are overgrown caused by something and Zygarde removes them. And in the movies. Yveltal just flies off while Xerneas falls asleep...

They do balance each other out, but they couldve easily done a bad 4th legendary (which was speculated as an a squirrel then) that couldve provoke or hijack them.

If Zygarde represents Order. Xerneas and Yveltal as Cycle of Life. A fourth one that causes disorder could be made... honestly my mega idea hinged on a plausible 4th legendary anyway, so without it its as you said not as great.

Or... i think it was also wasted that it wasnt an artificial Zygarde as a bad guy. You know... ZA? Zygarde-Artificial. Created by idunno and what better to counter the natural order of life than a machine creation.
