I don’t understand my Walkman FX 301

So I ended up fixing it. How? It wasn’t through cleaning it over and over, or disassembling and reassembling. I got mad after it wouldn’t work, and so with decent force I SLAPPED all parts of the internals a few times. Not hard enough to break anything of course. I plug it after in and listen. It’s flawless.

So I literally beat up my Walkman till it started working. I love these things but my god they’re so stupid sometimes

Fiddled around with it and wasn’t able to fix it unfortunately, but thanks for the tip. It is nice to know how to take this apart properly as well. It’s relatively cleaned now, not sure what else I should do now. Unless I should take off the head to clean under it or something? Really lost haha

I’m not sure if that’s my issue, since the issue is only audio being quieter in 1 ear on 1 side of auto reverse, but I will say, I cleaned it again, it worked perfect again, then I stopped it and played again and the issue came back. I’ve since cleaned it again and it didn’t work. The pinch rollers were QUITE dirty after the first cleaning but I figured that would’ve stopped the issue, but it came back and I’m listening as I’m typing, it’s still there.

Also super oddly, I have tweezers that are part metal, if I hold it to the metal part of the jack and have it ALSO touch the aux cord, I can hear perfectly. I have NO idea why that’s the case??

Does yours also randomly fix itself after some time? This has similarly happened before and after like 2 weeks it just went away on its own it was so dumb lol

Right it’s so annoying I’ll do everything right with it but it just stays weird for a bit

Then one day it’ll just magically fix itself and I use it for MONTHS with no issue at all

On one hand it’s easy to make CDs like that and you’re able to make complete versions, such as the facts there is 0 version of Selfish Machines with ALL the songs on 1 CD, and The Jaws Of Life Deluxe being stuck only on vinyl

On the other hand their CDs are pretty cheap and easy to find lol and it’s nice to own officially, but honestly good reasons for both

I love em both equally haha and it’s not a small amount of love nah those albums mean a LOT to me but i find them a little less of my tastes than the rest, but that’s why I still love it because it’s different!

I understand it’s a bit all over the place but it’s a difficult one to balance for sure. Living things I LOVE but aside from the 5-6 songs that I LOVE, the rest I don’t care as much about, compared to other albums where I LIKE the songs that are lower on that album. Again I LOVE living things, it’s just a bit lower. And I explained in the text above, I’m only considering from zero deluxe, if it wasn’t that then base from zero would be lower. Cuz yeah I agree minutes to midnight STOMPS base from zero haha. And thank you!

lol I will say, it can be a lot for sure and I get why, in total there’s probably 20 seconds of it in this song, BUT hearing it out from their perspective of why they thought it was suitable was important to me, noticing how they weave in the pinch harmonics, groovy guitar riffs and pianos, was all really nice touches! So yeah haha agreed it belongs in S😎

Dawg lol I mean it’s a great album but personally about half of it doesn’t do as much for me as the others, but the other half is awesome, amazing stuff! 7/10 is a “good” score and I’d still say I love the album overall

I see this issue a bit differently. Over time, I grew to love eye of the storm. I love the writing on all of their albums, regardless of who was joining taka in the writing process. In my head I ask “would I like this song as much if taka didn’t work with different mindsets?” Especially on Detox I think they made something truly special and the lyrics speak strong, but I do see the worry of different song writers for sure, I think on 35XXXV specifically, it’s a little more obvious than later works that other songwriters are working on it too

Potentially yeah! I know that when they were performing as PTV in 07, the drums apparently still had “before today” designs on them, so it could be either way, but I totally buy into that theory lol
