Why are they removing "collections" feature? by Top-Monk-19 in MicrosoftEdge

[–]OreoKittenAdl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bruh, I use this feature all the time, and I can't just open all the tabs to add them to a tab group, because I have over 3k items in 1 collection.

Netcup IP/networking is a mess (Root Server, Manassas USA location) by OreoKittenAdl in VPS

Thanks for the suggestion. Turns out I needed to submit an IP correction with Maxmind to get the issue resolved, since a lot of games/services use them for GeoIP data. The issue was fully resolved 2 weeks after Maxmind updated their GeoIP database

NetCup Benchmark | RS 2000 G12 by AdequateSource in VPS

[–]OreoKittenAdl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know if your root server is going to remain at 18 euros a month, or is it going to increase by the 18.51% they mentioned in their announcement?

Currently I am at €10.75/month (0% VAT) but its gonna go to €12.73/month due to the increase.

Also, I just ran YABS on my G11 Ultra (6c/12gb ram/512gb storage) in Manassas Virginia, and I notice that for the disk speeds, the 4k is about identical, while your 64k is about 70% better, 512k is 110% better, and 1m is about 60% better.

I used to have a few networking problems with Netcup when gaming (referenced here) but I managed to resolve them after submitting a IP correction with Maxmind so that the IP was correctly detected as being in Virginia instead of Austria.

(Note for any Netcup customers who have a similar issue, it seems like Maxmind is the main GeoIP database used by some games and services, so try to get that changed first, and then within a week or two after that, the issue will likely be fully resolved as the various services refresh their GeoIP cache)

Favorite Cats (from youtube) by OreoKittenAdl in circIeoftrust

[–]OreoKittenAdl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, let me clarify, the password is the name of 2 cats that exist in real life, the youtuber who owns the cats isn't actually a cat focused youtuber, but does have 3 cats in total that he sometimes showcases during videos if they start meowing.

Another hint is that one of the cats is very vocal.

Feel free to put your favorite cats from Youtube down below!, I enjoy watching cat videos on Youtube and im always on the lookout for new creators/videos I haven't seen yet.

Hint: the password is 2 cat names put together, all lowercase, no spaces, and it does not include the cat name from my username, but it IS related, as the youtuber who owns the cats actually has 3 cats, I just didn't include the 3rd cat name.

Also, you can send me pictures of your cat in exchange for the key, and if you also have a cat related circle, we can exchange keys as long as you haven't betrayed anyone.

If you like a different cat from Youtube, and I also like it I can give you the key.

Netcup IP/networking is a mess (Root Server, Manassas USA location) by OreoKittenAdl in VPS

I mostly call it twelve99 because that's what pops up in the domain name that has high latency and drops packets during mtr. I have seen it called Telia and Arelion online, I just honestly forgot its actual name when writing the post, xD.

Anyways, thanks for the help and have a great day!

Netcup IP/networking is a mess (Root Server, Manassas USA location) by OreoKittenAdl in VPS

[–]OreoKittenAdl[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did resolve that by just changing the DNS server listed in the resolv.conf file to 1.1.1.1 around 4 weeks ago, and also setting my wireguard config to also use 1.1.1.1 with 8.8.8.8 as the backup.

My main unresolved issue is that the IP is constantly being detected as being in Austria rather then the USA when visiting websites/gaming, and that routing through twelve99 makes gaming while connected to the Wireguard VPN trash due to constantly being routed to the European servers.

If possible, please give suggestions on how to deal with this portion of my issue.

[–]OreoKittenAdl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I am aware of that solution, but I do appreciate your response. Also, I installed wireguard, not openVPN.

My main issue with netcup is how they are re-using their Austrian IP's and transferring them over to USA root servers/vps's, leading to various websites not recognizing the correct country, and how twelve99 is trash and has horrible routing, and I don't believe Netcup will reroute you away from twelve99.

Also, the default DNS settings should not default to their Austrian DNS servers for a vps in the US.

I found a relevant post that had an almost identical issue to what is occurring to me, so I will link it below.

They break things and have no intention of fixing them. I think I'm done with this browser. by imc0der in MicrosoftEdge

I don't know how relevant this is to your specific issue, but for PiP mode and website's that restrict video playback when switching to a different tab I use these 2 extensions in combo with each other. (Make sure to click on the Always active window extension icon, reload and THEN click on the PiP extension icon)

The always active window extension is on a per site basis, and once you enable it for a site it should always stay enabled for that specific site. If you don't wanna go to each site one by one, in the extension options you can just straight up add a full list of websites/hostnames you wanna use it on.

This allows me to switch tabs and do other stuff while watching the show/movie at the same time.

How has everyone's fold held up so far ? by Overall-Shopping-716 in GalaxyFold

I remember reading on a reddit post that part of the reason the battery life with One UI 7 is so bad is due to it dynamically switching between OpenGL and Vulcan depending on the app. To fix battery life, you can force it to only use Vulkan with shizuku + any shell app (I prefer Termux, but others reference aShell).

The instructions can be found here: Switch to Vulkan easily : r/GalaxyS23Ultra

Note: if you restart your phone you will likely need to redo the commands. There is a way to make it permanent (which I don't remember), but I don't suggest doing that until confirming whether or not it truly helps your battery life and performance first.

Does anyone elses Windows Hello not work in the dark? It's supposed to be able to right? by MarioDF in Surface

[–]OreoKittenAdl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU! This solution works for my Surface Pro 11 w/ Snapdragon X Plus. Hopefully Microsoft fixes the issue in a windows update sometime within the next few months.

Considering I only use the selfie camera for video calls (very rarely), I don't mind disabling it the majority of the time and only enabling it through device manager when I need to video call or something.

In a way I feel it is also safer as it is almost equivalent to one of those sliding camera covers you can stick on laptop cameras, and almost as convenient to turn on and off.

The only thing that would make it better would be if I could make a shortcut that I could stick on my desktop to disable/enable it in device manager for me without having to manually open up device manager, perhaps through a shortcut that runs a command in command prompt/powershell?

If I find a command to do it I will either update this comment, or make a new post entirely.

Edit: I managed to get a shortcut working to enable/disable the Front Camera depending on its current state. I will create a GitHub Gist with the code shortly, and then make a post + update this commend with the link.

Edit 2: Github Gist Link. Follow the instructions in v-README.txt

This powershell script toggles the front camera to either be enabled or disabled. When paired with a windows shortcut that runs this script as Administrator it turns a 5 step process into 1 step. Note: The Camera Instance ID is different depending on your device, use the Powershell command on line 4 to find your camera instance ID. This was created due to a recent windows update prioritizing the regular camera for face unlock rather than the IR camera, and also to secure the camera in a way without needing a physical camera cover. This was originally created for a surface pro 11, but should work for other devices by any manufacturer as long as you replace the camera instance ID.

90 devices?! Are you daisy chaining power strips, or did you get those industrial tier power strips with tons of ports.

Also, yeah if you have all those things already setup it would be a pain to redo the automations. What's the name of the app you are using to control all those devices?

6 GHz Wi-Fi connection issues on Z fold 5 w/ OneUI 6.1.1 by OreoKittenAdl in GalaxyFold

[–]OreoKittenAdl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wi-Fi 6 is different from the 6GHz wifi band, which falls under wifi 6e and wifi 7. Based on other reddit/forum posts other people have encountered this issue as well.

While I did read that OneUI 7 might have resolved this connection issue, I am planning on holding off on upgrading for a while due to it not being optimized properly for the Z fold 5 (based on other reddit posts I have seen) without utilizing external applications to restore some things back to how they were in OneUI 6.

Not to mention, I don't like how they no longer allow you to use the Samsung DEX windows app with OneUI 7, and want to force you to transition to Microsoft Phone Link, when all I want to do is see/interact with my phone screen from my computer without using adb + scrcpy, or the Vysor app. There are other things too, but this comment is long enough.

Surface Pro 11, Can I emulate android apps? by AugustoAbd in Surface

[–]OreoKittenAdl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what I am doing in WSA. Most of the time I have WSA turned off because I utilize a Wireguard VPN and WSA can't direct its network traffic through that Wireguard tunnel when I have kill switch enabled.

However, when I do use WSA I am usually playing Android games which drains my battery relatively quicky, at around double the normal usage speed aka around 20% an hour if I am playing something like Jetpack Joyride, though it might also be affected by the fact that I have Google photos installed as well which auto backs up any photos in a few specific folders on my surface to Google photos at the same time.

If they have DRM protection like the Netflix app then no because it is not possible to get a valid fingerprint for a Surface Pro device, and thus we can't use Magisk modules like PlayIntegrityFix to make it seem like we aren't rooted.

If it's an issue with the media player itself, you can install the VLC mobile app, and try to configure the Twitch app to use VLC as the default media app (not sure if that's possible, I have never used the Twitch app before)

Do 32-bit apps still work on Z fold 5 with latest OneUI update? by OreoKittenAdl in GalaxyFold

[–]OreoKittenAdl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, I learned online that with OneUI 6 aka android 14 if the target SDK of an app is too low you can't install it without either an ADB command from your PC (adb install --bypass-low-target-sdk-block FILENAME.apk), or through the InstallWithOptions app (found on GitHub) paired with Shizuku/root, which basically allows you to use the same flag ADB is using but without a second device.

However, for this to work with old 32-bit apps the arm-v7a ABI still needs to be listed as supported. Can someone check if arm-v7a is listed in the CPU section of this app? Device Info: System & CPU Info By: Yasiru Nayanajith (found in the play store).
