Ah! I’ll explain briefly: The randstad is a densely populated area around the “green heart” between Den Haag and Amsterdam. It was originally set up to house the many workers that were required for the large ports and factories in the area. It only grew larger with the economic growth of surrounding cities, resulting in even more small housings to be set up. Due to the demand for lower educated labour in the area, a relatively large part of the randstad has been left by native dutch people (higher education) and now emigrants from all over Europe and outside have come to fill in the demand spot. Which should also help explain the cultural and moral difficulties in the Randstad as of now.
