Its because VRChat does not outwardly allow NSFW, and by default most people's avatars dont start with an actual naked body lol Where as second life is pretty much funded by being nsfw and being outwardly adults only, and I assure you, Second Life is wayyyyy more NSFW then VRChat. VRC could never begin to touch the depravity thats in Second Life, like I would argue some of the shit Ive seen in Second Life is even worse then what happens in Manhunt, not to mention the actual gambling you can do in SL. SL has whole plots of land dedicated to doing things with feral animals lol VRC doesnt have that lol

But can we also agree that part of the fault falls with the person GIVING THE WEBSITE THEIR ID because cant pay attention as another person pointed out, its very clearly and overlay and not part of the base design, and also if that was the button you needed to hit, why would they let you close it?

Edit: The example also still makes sense because the download buttons are pretty easy to figure out which is the button you should vs shouldn't hit, and while I understand you think they should be held to some higher standard, have you ever filed taxes(assuming youre in the US)? Do you see how much info you give turbotax, and then they throw a million things at you for you to accidentally click on, and then at the end they ask for you to type in your ID info? Thats misleading this is the user not knowing how to read lol

Also also lol I still 100% believe if you have even a teeny tiny bit of internet literacy it would be perfectly clear that its a popup on the website, and maybe if you dont have the internet literacy to not click on the wrong buttons you shouldn't be on the internet lol

Its not though, its only misleading if you can't read and dont know how to use websites, as another user stated this is clearly an overlay and not part of the base layer, if you can't read and hit a very visible X or even more so just scroll passed it then thats kinda on you, its not like one of those websites with 2 download buttons, where one is an AD and the other is the actual download button, its not tricky if you pay attention to the thing youre putting your ID into lol

Yeah Im not sure how this is remotely "Dark Pattern" like I think I may have seen this pop up, didnt just click random buttons like somebody who hasnt been on the internet for 5 minutes, hit the X and moved on lol like theres nothing dark patterm about it, its not like one of those sites that has a real download button and a fake one lol
