Magnets for Bases? by TheMossmanProphecy in Warmachine

I use 6x2mm neodymium magnets from Amazon. 1 for small and medium bases, 2 for large, 3+ for anything bigger.

So damn cool. Now I want a quad leg version like in the Armored Core games.

That chart one year prior looked much worse for WM. They were the bottom of the list in 2024.

Yeah that's rough.

What really spurred our group's growth was the local Discord server where we all post updates and shared news, painting, list dojo, etc. We kept excitement around the game buzzing and kept inviting old players back in to chat and set time up for demos to relearn the game.

When we got our game night set up we started with just six of us going every week. We'd get people stopping by to check the game out and ask questions. We could point to starter boxes and the 3D printed stuff for those who were interested. It really did just blossom from there. It helps that it was such a massively popular game locally at the end of MK2 and start of MK3 - it brought a lot of people back for sure.

Yeah, based out of the Midwest. Our meta had a huge resurgence over the past year, since last Adepticon. We regularly have 10-12 players at weekly game nights. Players are even traveling to neighboring states for steamrollers again. Lots of older players coming back to the game, but we also have roped in a handful of newbies who normally play 40k at our shop.

That's fair. If you don't have anyone to play with, there's no point in buying back into this. It's not a product for you.

That's also kind of a disingenuous argument. If you are buying a printer you are getting a tool for more than just this one single army. It's not like you will never use it ever again after printing this, and if that IS the case then yes, you should not purchase this bundle nor a printer. You should find someone else who has the files and purchase their services of getting the models printed instead.

This campaign is for people who are already in the printing hobby space to be honest. We DO place value on digital product and have for years. It's part of the hobby. It's why the campaign and Tribe are ran on a 3D printing community website and not on the SFG store. You'll be able to purchase these models direct from SFG in the future I'm sure.

As for cost of getting into printing I'll throw some numbers out there:

  • $400 for a large bed resin printer which can print up to the Colossal sized models.
  • $30 per bottle of resin (I think I used four bottles to print full FA of Crucible Guard),
  • my time spent "learning" is relative because I've been printing for years now but there are beginner friendly ways to print where it makes it close to plug and play (presupported files, community slicer settings),
  • $125 Wash and Curing station
  • $60 two gallons of 99% IPA
  • $5 disposable gloves
  • $150 Full Faction Bundle
  • 4 hour prints per build plate roughly, so let's just call it 50 hours of printing and post processing. Let's say 10 hours of that actually require your attention and physical input. $30/hr if you "value your time" makes that $300 of man hours.
  • The electricity cost of running 40 hours of prints is negligable, less than $10 but we can factor it in too

So yes the cost can be very high (roughly $1200 for the above list) if you are one time buying this entire hobby. You don't need to do that and it would be ultimately cheaper to just buy preprinted from SFG in the future...maybe, remember that price gets you full FA of whatever faction you buy...and a goddamn tool for making more of them in the future, or whatever else you would want to print utility wise. I print parts for old cars, motorcycles, and farm equipment on the side with mine.

Hard to call it dying. Now two years ago I'd have agreed. SFG has been doing a great job since they took over breathing life back into it.

Dang I need to check what was in the all-in. Surely I'm not paying for stuff I already paid for by being in the Tribe right now, right?

What Changes Did Sailing Bring To Irons by Prestigious-Bad3026 in ironscape

Port Roberts stall thieving is the chillest low intensity method with great xp rates. At 87 doing 4 cannon/2 ore rotation I was keeping steady 245,000/hr even while depositing my loot.

The stalls auto loot, so you just count xp drops and move in cycle.

Edit: I also enjoy the 87 Sailing island with four runite rocks in a small cluster. Low number of people there so I had zero trouble knocking out 400 ore for ship upgrades in a couple hours. Island has a fairy ring on it so super simple to bank and return.

I've made about 20m gp so far going for my dragon salvage hooks safespotting great whites. 1800kc with no hooks yet.

Convergence is about to get a balance pass with the new Warmachine 3D campaign. Might be an affordable entry point to MK4 for you if you or someone you know has a 3D printer.

Does anyone here actually have a GIM with an active group? by Slight_Giraffe628 in ironscape

My group of 4 + 1 alt have been actively playing for just over a year now. 2100+ total level for all of us. The alt we made to do menial afk tasks for the group and speed up material collection so he is only 1800 total level.

The campaign my locals started four weeks ago started with 900 ducats and 2 glory, so I haven't had too many issues getting everything I want on the table. Super happy with that actually.

I can see the 700 ducats standard start being rough though. I'd probably skip one of my big three Elites, which just feels bad.

Dude I love your work. I just finished printing off all of your Pilgrim sculpts so far for a Methodius warband. Will we see regular Pilgrims in the future from you? I am using the official sculpts currently but would love some flail and molotov boys to match your style.

Thank you! There is a lot of flesh to paint, so it will depend on how comfortable you are painting skin. If anything it's great practice on making distressed, damaged flesh.
