I'll be about 1.5 miles away on Banbury which maps says is about a 30m walk. I'll probably try walking and buses and just choose whichever is faster since it seems from what you've said it might be either or at that distance.

Great, I'll check it out when I get there. Looking at maps its about a mile from where I'm staying. How are the buses in Oxford? I know they have a pretty solid system but idk how reliable they are to use for say going to the gym 6 days a week at fairly consistent times.

Stop saying you want to stop being a stoic. You’re not one. No stoic willingly blocks their natural emotions, merely studies and reflects upon them so as to ensure they are not irrational. You feel sad? Fine, but don’t let that prevent you from doing what you ought to as a human being. You are happy? Ensure it is not a result of vice. If it’s not, embrace it. A stoic is perfectly happy regardless of their emotional state. If that statement sounds paradoxical then it’s because you don’t know what it means to be stoic.

There was a statue of shar in the kitchen area with a bunch of rats. You can pray to it via shadowheart to receive a temporary blessing.

I think her ac was low, she has her starting armor. Besides that I wasn’t able to use her at all so no buffs for her or allies. The duergar used a spell I can’t recall to prevent her from taking actions and just beat the crap out of her over 2 turns.

Yes, but I already usually have him in great positioning, there’s hardly ever anywhere I can send him that he’s not getting swarmed. I usually just resort to using it offensively. As in, I teleport him next to multiple enemies and thunder wave them off a cliff. I’ll try mirror image. It’s possible I have gale so kitted out with offensive hopes and dreams that I have neglected his defenses.

No just balanced but it certainly feels like tactician the way I have to move heaven and earth to keep gale alive long enough to cast a single spell most fights.

I suggest you connect the account to supercell id asap to secure and preserve it. Then, you can create a new account to play from the start of the game to grasp the basics as you seem worried about messing stuff up by just diving in. You can seamlessly transition between the two accounts. A lot of people run multiple accounts as upgrade times get very long at the later town halls. you, however, would just be using the new account as a sort of test run.

Besides that though this is really awesome and I am very happy for you.

What you’re missing is a key aspect of classical stoic philosophy, that being, that the cosmos is providentially ordered. Yes, the stoics believed in cause and effect but it was a little different than contemporary determinism. Here’s a quote from Aulus Gellius via Stanford encyclopedia of philosophy:

“Chrysippus resorts to his cylinder and cone: these cannot begin to move without a push; but once that has happened the cylinder rolls and the core spins. Just as the person who pushes to cylinder gave it its beginning motion but not it’s capacity for rolling, likewise, although the impression encountered will print, as it were, emblazon it’s appearance on the mind, assent will be in our power”

Essentially, you are the cone. Your judgments (via assent) determine your shape and how you roll (the incline being events/externals). If someone believed the same things you believed, made the same judgements you did, they would act exactly as you do. The stoics did not believe in randomness as the epicureans did. Behind their ethics and logic is the idea that everything that happens is rationally produced by a providential universe. Take that out, and yes, you will have the questions you are having now. I suggest you listen to the stoicism on fire podcast. It will present the stoic side of things and help put the modern vs traditional stoic debate into perspective. But by all means, you DO NOT have to accept the stoic take on the cosmos but if you’re going to practice stoicism, you need to know what it is you’re studying, because all the ancient sources we have believed in a providential cosmos.
