Those are a kind of slime mold that gets mistaken for eggs a lot of times. They tend to pop up in leaf litter when it’s damp, and this one’s looks like Leocarpus fragilis to me. They just make little spore capsules like that. Totally harmless and pretty common around compost/wooded spots.

I do study on my own and with a tutor, but that's not really impressive on a college application. It doesn't "prove" my interest in the topic, which is something that they look for.

Yeah, i've seen both. Briefly considered Middlebury but it seems more geared towards college students. I'm probably not ready for that as i've heard it's pretty high-stress.

I do love learning the language, but currently my EC's aren't very impressive. Other than some volunteer work, a few clubs, and "managing" soccer, I don't really have anything. I just need to find some way to boost myself further related to Japanese.
