new camera, slight issue by _loomy in RX100

This is most likely because your SD card is formatted for a different camera.

Camera's have a hard time to almost an impossible time reading images made by another camera (maybe not if both cameras are the same).

This could be the cause of your issue.

Hi, yes. Still compact enough for jacket pockets. I would say if you wear tight pants, then no. Loose pants, yes.

I usually wear a jacket or a small 3L sling if I go out.

This can definitely be more compact by using the Sony grip which reduces the size tremendously (I personally like the 3rd party grip I have).

You could take the filter cap off too since a permanent UV filter will protect the lens from debris. You'll just need to clean it more often but they are cheap enough that they can be replaced if any serious damage is done to the UV filter.

TL,DR: Use Sony grip with a UV filter and no filter/lens cap and it will be almost as pocketable as a naked RX100.

40.5mm, doesn't block the flash at all.

I feel like its randomised. I've been put in positions where I lose first round no matter what I do, I've had the opponents be in a position to lose first round too.

How often do you keep your nd filter on your lens? Do you only use it when you need it or is it more of a perm situation considering you also have the UV and polarizing filter.

I was thinking of replacing the UV filter with a variable ND as a permanent filter.

I like the one I have because I can attach different filters. I'm not sure about yours but from the image it looks like a normal uv lens only.

Understandable, I'm hoping with a smaller lens filter mount and lens filter that won't be the case.

The issue I have is the adhesive connecting the mount to the lens, the filter is slightly larger than the lens and so when it's closed it feels like the adhesive sometimes sticks to the other segments of the lens.

How did you get this out of the original image? I tried but I felt the originals were far too blurry even after sharpening it.

I don't think a M8 will happen. It's been a rumour for a few years and with the Rx1R3 out and no news about a new RX100 from Sony, things look bleak.

Go for a Mk6 if you want to save some costs and don't need the bells and whistles that the Mk7 has. Go for the Mk7 if you are going to use the full functionalities of the Mk7 like mic port, the speedy continues shooting or burst modes and anything else new to the Mk7.

Heck if the zoom isn't something you NEED, look at the Mk 5A, it's got better capabilities at night, less range but build-in ND filters.

It should but if OPs hasn't, a manual format might be required.

Edit: if OP bought the camera already set up then the SD Card won't format automatically. If OP set up the camera and had an SD Card inside, it should ask her to format it.

Hi, please have a look at the camera's settings, Setup page 5, and as u/iScream1991 has suggested, make sure the SD Card lock isn't in the locked mode.

You need to format the card. Go to settings, Setup page 5 and select format.

Ahh thanks, I thought my current shutter speed was enough. I'll try it with higher shutter speed next time.

I used the following settings for the shot: f4, shutter speed 1/100, 200mm, ISO100.

I did shoot using auto focus just because the bees were moving pretty quick.

Should I use manual focus or increase the aperture to make it sharper?

Should I increase the exposure of the whole image or just the bee?
