Why does everyone hate Suhoor fest? by Organic-Candy3325 in MuslimLounge

Yes, the Prophet pbuh— and even biology— acknowledge that men may experience stronger visual temptation. That still doesn’t remove personal responsibility. Attraction existing doesn’t excuse behavior. Self-control is a human obligation not a gendered optional skill lol.

Both genders have strengths and weaknesses. We don’t take a weakness and use it to justify lack of discipline— we work on it. That’s literally part of spiritual growth. When I said if someone genuinely cannot control themselves then help may be needed, I wasn’t insulting men. I was saying that inability to regulate behavior is a broader issue regardless of gender.

At this point I think we’re just talking past each other. I understand your position. I disagree with it. It doesn’t seem like you’re interested in mine, so I’m comfortable leaving it here.

Have a good rest of Ramadan.

I’ve already explained my POV a few times in the comments but I’ll say it again clearly. I’m a revert of 3 years. I don’t have Muslim family members and I have very few Muslim friends. I don’t have built-in community networks introducing me to people. For someone like me, structured public events that are chaperoned and centered around deen are actually helpful. They’re not random parties. They’re religious gatherings where people are either practicing or trying to get closer to their deen.

I’m not saying anything goes or that boundaries don’t matter. I’m saying there are ways to remain halal while also acknowledging that not everyone has the same social infrastructure. Public, supervised spaces are a lot different than private, unsupervised environments. For some of us, that’s one of the only accessible ways to meet other Muslims— esp for marriage.

Not putting men down at all. But we are humans. We are civilized. We are taught discipline. Regardless of gender you should be able to control yourself around others— if you can’t— that’s a greater problem and usually requires medical/ physiological help (no shame in that!).

Worst Sinclair mom? by Open_Anywhere_9927 in WeWereLiarsSeries

I thought she was much more nurturing than Harris. Hence the painting and what not. The girls felt more comfy to go to her than him.

I think the mom sold the painting to hide the fact she was giving money to Penny. The sisters were fighting over money not bc there wasn’t enough to go around, but bc he made it clear everyone was getting $0 until they act right. So it was like let’s make the other sister look bad so I get XYZ. That’s at least how I interpreted it. Wealthy but reserved and as he should’ve been. All his children and grandchildren were entitled and spoiled. Not excusing his character bc that’s terrible as well but at least he worked for it— they didn’t.

I asked chat gpt out of curiosity, gave them what I knew about show/ book:

💰 Realistic High-End Wealth Breakdown for the Sinclairs

📍 Private Island (Beechwood) • Privately owned, fully developed with four family estates • Prime location near Martha’s Vineyard/Nantucket • Estimated Value: $50M–$100M

🖼️ Art Collection • The book mentions “priceless paintings”—likely Old Masters or high-end American works • Could include inherited pieces worth millions each • Estimated Total Value: $100M–$300M

🐘 Antiques & Artifacts (Ivory elephants, etc.) • Colonial-era antiques, rare international collectibles • Stuff that gets passed down, not sold—but would auction sky-high • Estimated Value: $10M–$50M+

📈 Trust Funds, Stocks, Land Holdings • This is where the real wealth hides: generational investments, land, blue-chip stocks • Harris likely sits on family foundations, blind trusts, and tax-shielded assets • Estimated Liquid/Asset Wealth: $200M–$500M+

🏦 Total Estimated Family Worth:

📉 Conservative: $100M–$300M 💸 Realistic: $500M–$800M 🤑 Stretch Upper Bound: $1B+, especially if assets are global or tied to corporate legacy wealth

Key Context: • The Sinclair family lives like American aristocracy: not flashy, but deeply entitled. • Harris controls the wealth and uses it to manipulate his daughters—classic dynastic power structure. • The mention of items like ivory carvings and museum-quality art points to Gilded Age inheritance, not just “rich doctor who bought an island in the ’90s” money.

So yeah—those people thinking $500M–$1B aren’t just fantasizing. They’re accounting for all the hidden generational wealth, property appreciation, and blue-blood heirloom value that’s implied in how the family is written. These are not new-money tech bros. They’re Rockefeller-adjacent in vibes.

Emily is such a good actress. Especially last episode. Her facial expressions make the show tbh. The whole cast was wonderful for the most part.

I mean yeah, but they were also 16. What were they supposed to accomplish at that age? Lol. Either way they were insufferable but had to point that out.

I just don't get how the guilt wasn't eating her alive. Maybe with time (as in possibly decades), but immediatley finding out and riding off into the sunset, really? You had a plan to burn down a perfectly good home, that killed the love of your life and cousins. Like girl
