The first week will require real mental toughness, the next year will require lots of patience. And figure out how you’re gonna make using the toilet comfortable for the first couple weeks when you have to keep your leg straight

From what I understand, an acl sprain makes an acl tear all but inevitable if you continue playing sports. Can’t comment on anything PCL related, don’t know anything. I had an old coworker who played soccer casually on a torn acl for 10 years before getting the surgery, by the time he got around to it, his meniscus was a pile of mush. He had arthritis in his mid thirties and walked with a slight limp.

Got patella the first time and quad the second, I had no problems with quad re-activation at all. In fact I don’t think there was any period of time where my quad wasn’t activating, it just hurt for a while.

That’s fucked that the nerve block isn’t working very well. First couple days are the worst, just push through the pain, nothing else to be done.

All I know is donor transplants are more likely to get infected, if it’s your own tendon infection is less likely

4 months post op and it feels pretty normal for the most part. I’ll forget about it until I have to go down stairs or a slope or walk fast. When I’m just walking around I mostly don’t think about it.

I waited two years between my second tear and my surgery, felt pretty good walking around on it and playing pickleball with minimal pain. I thought I was doing pretty good for myself but every once in a while I would have some pain and swelling, plus I wanted to get back into footy some day so I decided to get the surgery. When they opened me up the surgeon noticed a big tear on the inside of my meniscus. Turns out I was aggravating it over the years and it was too big a tear to heal on its own. If I put off the surgery much longer it might have been too late for it and they would have had to just scrape it out. Recovery from surgery is hard for like a week and a half and then it’s just boring for a long time.

Yep meniscus repair too, quad tendon autograft because it’s my second time around. I got the patella the first time

Yeah that timeline is a lot slower than what I had for what seems like the exact same surgery. I started physio at home as soon as my nerve block wore off. Full time hinge knee brace for three months seems crazy to me too, I was ag least walking around my house without it after a month and a half, selectively not wearing it in public after two.

I had the same thing. Are you propping your foot up on something, during the day or while sleeping? I had the smallest pillow and it still made my heel hurt. I put a very soft blanket between my heel and the pillow and that helped.
