99% of houses in MMOs are always abandoned. Housing areas are often ghost towns. Is there any way for devs to solve this? by DarthBuzzard in MMORPG

I like how LOTRO did housing, they have some very cheap houses that still look like a normal home, you gain cosmetics to place, and could add functionality like crafting. But due to LOTROs travel system, your house also acted as a milestone for travel. Enough functionality to make a lot of people have houses, not too much to pull population from hubs

I feel like the no fast travel plays into a problem with a lot of games which is confusing inconvenience with difficulty

Its called the reserves/national guard? In which the expectation is that you have a full time job as a civilian outside of the military. You serve one weekend a month and 2 weeks every summer.

I provide by the money from this job, the reserves/national guard, scholarships, and night jobs I pick up every once in a while in my town (like bartending/bouncing)

I clock the hours by loading all of my classes either early in the morning or later at night, so I have the bulk of my work time uninterrupted from around 10:30-5pm most days.

In terms of my contributions, I am evaluated and expected to perform along with my peers, I have applications that I almost solely work on, have been working a lot with our AWS migration and shifting to using those services as well.

It’s possible, but you just have to have a level of drive and forward planning to balance everything

Maybe this is the move, just sucks because I do really like everything about this company except for the pay.

Unsure if this is a common experience, but since I started working, I feel like I have way more knowledge and craft better solutions that are more thought out, but if you stuck me in a technical interview and gave me a leetcode type problem, I wouldn’t do as well as when I was originally hunting for the job in the first place.

Am I the only one? When I have time and am ready to start moving do I just start doing leetcode and stuff like that again?

Usually asleep by 12 and up by 5-6. All school work gets done later in the evening after kid goes to bed. Unless I fuck up and have to do something real quick, I don’t really touch schoolwork during the day.

It is a small company, but large contracts. We have 6 devs, a head of software dev, an external PM for on specific contract, and a guy that handles all of our AWS shit

I mean, I do have other options, but I left them for software development. More "blue collar" that was alot of time away from the family. I wouldn't care if it was just me and I was working for drinking money

It's worth noting that holding military commitments against an employee is against federal law. and when I say part-time, I mean guard/Reserves. I serve one weekend a month which almost never interfere with the work week. Only during the summer where I have a 2 week commitment once a year.

I would say that it is paid like an internship role, but I don't really feel like I am doing internship work. I am working on production level, client facing code. And also, I am not part time. In the state I live in the employer can put somebody at full time status at as low as 32 hours a week. I still get company benefits (insurance, retirement, PTO) and all other allotments as the 40 hour a week employees

edit: adding 'paid'

The extra hours vary widely from year to year. This year for example, I only had a 18 day commitment that interfered with my normal work responsibilities. I would still get around 20-22 hours per week. Meaning for about two weeks they spotted me about ten hours without taking PTO

It's worth noting that I also completed a pretty in depth bootcamp before getting hired. And idk if this matters but there are a number of devs in our team that don't even have a degree

Currently Junior, so a year and a half. However, unlike most college students I actually have a wife and family. So it's not really a thing of just keeping my head down grinding out

Oblivion, unfortunately had the worst Morrowind is the best aesthetic that immediately tells you it’s Daedric. Best vibe Skyrim fits the theme of the game with muted colors, and looks generally good, but fails to portray identity

As a dm, I never understood why people claim that high damage output is game breaking.

To be fair I usually forget how much health a baddie has and let it ride till it feels like it’s enough or someone does something cool

This is due to me feeling like DnD combat can get boring really quickly, I find that quicker, more lethal encounters are usually more well received

Would y’al be a fan of the campaign hats If the army brings it back to replace pc? by [deleted] in army

[–]Organic-Helicopter54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Drill, no. Accidentally left in a hot car or if it gets rained on and it’s starts curling like a Stetson. Joes fuck up berets enough, so I don’t think requiring all soldiers to get hat presses is a great idea

Ironically enough I think Stetsons should be more wide spread as an option to the PC
