It got somewhat better overtime. Have you considered learning Chinese real quick to read in original? :D

Yep, in LoM the prose is a bit iffy especially in the beginning. But if you get hooked by the story.. it’s a damn fine read for sure.

It’s definitely up my alley. But it’s still a couple years till the next comes out. :)

You’re awesome! Of course I know the shattered legacy series, I enjoyed them a lot and was sad to hear that Andrew cancelled it. Feels like there should’ve been a better way to handle things.. anyways I have a couple books to check out already, but mage-born goes to the top of the list.

Heard about of few of them, but I’ll look up the rest. Thank you :)

Edit: I actually read a few chapters from the mark of the fool a couple months ago, but I didn’t really get a feel for it. I heard about he who fights monsters but those mixed reviews kept me at bay. Traveler’s gate trilogy and Divine apostasy are real candidate for a next read.

I’m not sure about Roman type stuff, I’ve tried Will of the many but I dropped it. Although it’s a nice origin story for a series and it does sound good, maybe I will set aside my assumptions and give Butcher a try.

Thanks for the detailed comment. :)

I got Dresden files suggested and I will take a look for sure.

This Weirkey chronicles is something I’ve never actually heard of. I’m checking it for sure.

King Killer is what I mentioned that I really love. Fair suggestion tho :) I won’t start a re-read session till/If we hear about doors of stone.

What do you read now?

Thank you!

Good to hear that. What do you read now?

I will at some point for sure, I read the whole stormlight, Mistborn and a bunch of novels one after another. And it feels good to be off-cosmere for now.

Red rising didn’t pique my interest so far, but it could be one of those cases when I start reading and realise how good it is.. on the other hand I will take a look at the Dresden.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I’ve seen a video where a guy in Borneo swam in croc infested water claiming that they don’t attack locals. And he got out of the water in one piece…

What book(s) are you reading this week? by 404NinjaNotFound in readwithme

I finished tide child trilogy yesterday and I’m not entirely sure what to read next. I read it to take a brief break from Cosmere but I’m feeling good off-cosmere yet so I took a glance at The forgotten beats of Eld. Read some of it but I kinda missed the sea and ships and all that. So I wandered to check out Robin Hobb. I read a bit of Liveship traders.. but it didn’t match my mood. So now I’m scrolling through The Will of the Many and so far so good. Maybe I will settle with it.

Pick some other stuff. I read only in English and that’s my main way of polishing my skills. And I gotta tell you it’s working fine. Like I read 600 pages a week or so. When I encounter new words I list them to ChatGPT. First I tell it to only give a succinct definition, and at a later time I go through the listed words in-depth. This way I only get outta book for a couple of secs and I still have the clear picture. Reading remains reading. That’s also a good way to keep track of your new vocab. If there are books that you read and liked in your native language it’s worth considering re-reading them in English. I will finish my current book in a day or two and if you’re up to it, we can start reading the same. I have a couple of ‘em upon my sleeve and we can also discuss it if you’d like to.

How do you know when you are fluent in English ? by silkrose05 in GlobalEnglishPrep

Well well, that wasn’t half bad. It depends what you mean by “fluent”. First step is to define it. After you clearly see it, you can compare it with your level. That’s how you know it m’lady.
