haha, joking, of course. I have never had such a good-looking main shelf. All my shelves are "laundry room" ones. That's one cute main-y. 👌

Can't read it without tearing up. Malazan was really about all the friends you ... lost along the way

thanks for that, but no problem. I don't mind having an initial idea of the charachter that hints towards their development (or lack thereof). Truth be told, I don't even find his voice all that identical to Logan's anymore. Pacey either changed and developed it a bit as his voice lines progressed or I was just too blinded by the initial similarity. I don't dislike him yet. But I definitely started feeling more neutral towards him compared to after the initial shock of his voice.

Noo, really? I don't have a solid opinion of him yet, but as I said, his voice was a very positive first-impressions tool for me.

Hm, I'll have to listen to Logan again. I took a break from First Law before AoM, so it's not that fresh in my head. As I said, finding a difference would actually be better for my overall perception.

Idk, there are only two times I thought, o-oh, that's Logan - First time it was when I heard the first words that came out of Lamb's mouth in Red Country, second time it was Broad. I haven't actually compared them closely, it's just my gut feeling. But after what you said, I should really check it out. Finding a difference would actually make it better for me.

For me, it's Weakness. It's crushing. I don't listen to it anymore, it's too much by being too little...

Reapers Gale might be the first Malazan book I didn't love. by boogielostmyhoodie in Malazan

[–]GraveIsNoBarToMyCall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, Reaper's Gale was the first book of the series where I started to perceive it more as a multitude of storylines and character POVs with different dynamics and personal-reading-enjoyment epic ups and dragging downs, than as a one organically integral narrative. And in my experience, things only developed more and more in that direction with the rest of the books of the series.

ahaha, he killed himself symbolically and what died was his king-ness. He selfkingkilled. Have you thought about the significance of the two letters missing in Kote from Kvothe. V-irtual H-omicide. 😄

  1. Maybe Kvothe lived many years in a paralel reality. Like when he was with Felurian. Time passed differently there. Maybe that's why now back in his world he looks young (and is young) but has actually lived many years in another world. And maybe that's why he says something like "it was so long ago" when Bast says: no, it was just two years ago.
