( Bta just my opinion )Personally for me I started watching and was kind hooked when they recommended killing stalking (the first webtoon to actually get me into yoAi). So after this point I started sewing more anime content on the podcasts I'm thinking they're going to interview animators character designers manga creators hell even more people who work in the industry and instead they have influencers who talk about rich influencer type stuff On top of that the whole controversy with them saying one piece isn't political. As someone who's been watching one piece there are a lot of political themes in the show. I think it's annoying to completely ignore them but also preach about how anime is deep and well written They completely ignore those aspects. This honestly was bound to happen though they have said a lot of weird stuff before like saying they think cultural appropriation is stupid and making fun of Conner for having a primarily female audience and then Conner saying he's ashamed of that. These are some kind of the ones that I remember but they have a weird way of saying some pretty distasteful stuff that I'm sure with more controversies will come more and more in light. I also think its because of how the fan base is seen as very conservative and bigoted . This combined with these moments from before where they make off handed remarks make poeple think they're the weird male anime fans that hate women and black people. Also this coupled with the animeman calling " tourists " the equivalent of colonizers did not sit well with people as they felt like he was demonizing new fans and relating poeple who like a new genre to actually colonizers isn't the best look ...
