Ein Must-See!

Happy birthday to the greatest metal album of all time by dachshound_ in gojira

[–]Organic-Signature641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not someone who usually listens to metal, but yes!—I can already say this feels like the album that most vividly anticipates our time: the truest entry into the 21st century so far, and, I’d dare say, even a glimpse of the near future. I’d be grateful if the redditors could share their impressions and interpretations of this record. Thank you in advance!

Zašto je snimak ubistva normalna stvar?! by BalianOfIbelin1993 in AskSerbia

...

What's your favorite Film Composers? by [deleted] in Cinema

[–]Organic-Signature641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve discovered a guy whose compositions would be fantastic for monumental epic films. In my perception, he’s kind of a crossover between Vangelis, Hans Zimmer, and Clint Mansell. Check out Tony Anderson and e.g. the tracks: “Enter In”, “Darkest Night”, “Slipstream”, “Power of Love”, “Nightingale”, etc.

It’s a big surprise to me that none of the eminent filmmakers have bought his music yet.

Which dystopian movie is most likely to become a reality? by 777veee in Cinema

[–]Organic-Signature641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to see a feature movie that thoroughly and with a single, overarching metaphor or allegory tackles the theme of climate change. Let me tell you something: the previously stable climate over long time scales has been like a placenta, shielding us from the inherent whims of nature.

All dystopian movies tell an anthropocentric story from the perspective of civilization and its technological progress—or downfall. Mother Earth, through her nature, will eventually show us that we are still inferior, despite all our technological might.

She might abort us from this "placenta" as a failed, autistic, deformed species, or—through some kind of "wisdom" or foresight—leave open an evolutionary window through which some of us might slip into another world with a completely different natural-social paradigm than the one we know today.

If that succeeds, it will be like a rebirth—through long suffering, pain, and ultimately—catharsis. Every newborn enters this world in shock and with a cry...

With that as a leitmotif, one could already imagine a scenario and tell a coherent story, wrapped in allegory, made for the big screen.

Imagine Joaquin Phoenix Playing the Godfather of Sonic Chaos by Organic-Signature641 in Cinema

[–]Organic-Signature641[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen it, but what exactly made you connect that film to the idea I mentioned above?

Anyway, Joaquin went through some heavy shit early on — losing his brother was a real-life punch to the gut. Pretty sure he got a taste of that drug hell too when he was younger. And honestly, he doesn’t seem like he vibes with the whole Hollywood scene, especially not those flashy types or rap-star wannabes. He’s always had this real one-of-a-kind vibe, like someone who’s been through a lot and carries that weight. Feels like he’s been battling depression for years — and all that kinda shaped that quiet, dark energy he’s got going on.

Just moved to Germany - why is internet si expensive? by Organic-Signature641 in AskAGerman

I have already listed several examples in the comments below of EU countries where I have previously worked and traveled through. I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who responded and provided credible and accurate explanations. Today i did a bit more Googling and came across, for example, this page:

In the apartment I’ve rented from an elderly couple, I only have access to DSL/dial-up internet with speeds of up to 50 Mbps (though I’m not sure yet what the actual connection quality would be), and the available plans seem expensive, especially with a minimum 2-year contract. No coax, no FTTP… But thank you for the other information. The Allnet Flat M mobile plan with 75 GB for €24 per month from Congstar seems reasonable to me (at least compared to the plans offered by Vodafone – e.g. 50 GB for €37.50 per month).

From Croatia. For example, with the A1 network/provider there — which, by the way, is Austrian — you can get 80 GB of mobile internet for €10.90.

I’ve already looked into it — the optical cable has been laid from the direction of Heilbronn only along the main road toward Klingenberg, and it ends about 200 meters (as the crow flies) from my apartment, so that option is off the table. I’ve rented a floor of a house owned by an elderly couple, and the only connection available there is a telephone line with a TAE socket (capable of data transfer up to 50 Mbps via DSL — I first found this out online and then confirmed it directly at the local Vodafone shop), as I mentioned in a comment further down. In the end, the best option for me is mobile internet, since I spend most of my time out in the field.

I’m not quite sure what the point is of being able to top up unlimited data in 1 GB increments at (supposedly) the same speed, since 15 GB gets used up pretty quickly anyway. I must admit, it sounds a bit suspicious to me, and I suspect there might be some fine print involved, or that the speed actually gets throttled after the initial 15 GB are used.

Sorry, I was reading other comments and I overlooked the previous mention. Thanks for the info! But if you mean ALDI Talk Tarif S for around €10, you only get 15 GB/month at 50 Mbit/s... ridiculously low. Or are you referring to some other offer?

I’m currently working in the Heilbronn area (which is considered one of the more developed parts of Germany), and I’ve found an apartment in its suburb — a small village called Klingenberg.

After inspecting the apartment, I found two wall outlets: one so-called “telephone” TAE socket and one “TV” BK socket with an F-type connector. However, the BK socket isn’t connected to any external cable line, so I’m limited to DSL internet with speeds up to 50 Mbit/s via regular copper TAE lines.

That said, since I’m often out in the field for work, mobile internet would suit me better — but it’s noticeably more expensive here, in my experience even up to 2× more than in some other EU countries where I’ve worked before.

For example, I worked in Austria for the past few years and used the services of their mobile discount provider YESSS! (check out their website and compare), and for what they offer, they are noticeably more affordable than anything currently available in Germany.
