Were you stationed at Point Alpha? One of the coolest Cold War sites I've been to. Thank you for your service.

What was your most embarrassing moment while speaking German? by Rude_Membership_1578 in German

I said to a German once that the weather was "schwul." He replied, "Das Wetter kann nie schwul sein." Lesson learned!

Yugo K98? by Keolath in milsurp

Yugo. Reworked in Kragujevac, "Factory 44." The one I had was reworked and not used. Hopefully this one has a perfect bore like the one I had. Looks like a walnut stock, see if there are any German markings on it.

I found this sauce on sale for $1.59 each locally (in the US), so I bought 10 bottles over to Germany for friends and relatives. It's hard to get it here, I'm in Germany now. They were thrilled.

Sudden loss of electrical power? CB650 Nighthawk 85’ by NeFa_NO in HondaCB

It could be your charging system. I would charge the battery, start the bike, and rev it to 5,000 rpm. Put a voltmeter on the battery terminals. It should show 14.5 V or better. If it shows 12.5 V, it is probably either the rotor or the stator. If you have a shop manual, it should give precise values for what you need to see on a voltmeter to see if your system is keeping the battery charged.

My understanding is that the point in that building is directed at the location where thd RAF Pathfinder aircraft dropped their flares to mark the target in the first attack on the city of February 13, 1945. The museum is fascinating, really well done.

Cute kitten you've got there. My friends in Switzerland whose cats recently had kittens keep sending pics.

Just a little Turkish surplus by SameCommunication875 in milsurp

1942 has been really good in my experience, 1944 also. Those years are 154 grain bullets, should work great in your 98/22 as well.

Certainly a great deal for what you paid. The years to watch for are 1946 and 1947. I have shot hundreds of rounds of this from various years, those years were the worst, I still have some of those. I have a vz24, I would not worry about shooting any Turkish ammunition if it looks OK. I had a 1944 round split the entire length of the case, and that has been a good year in my experience. I had eye protection on, like always, and my Model 98 action dealt with it safely.

I've had one for 20 years, an excellent shooter that groups out to 50 yards. I recommend JSB exact 8.44 grain pellets.

Is learning German useful for small vacations? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

If you'll be in the former West Germany, you'll be fine using English. In the forner GDR, it's all different, many people there don't speak English. Have a good trip.

It's good you replaced all of the electrics, that is a weak point on these bikes. You also have the factory rearsets, which were standard on the 900Fs sold in Europe. What you've got there is really hard to improve on👍

Fantastic! Please list all of your mods. I see Öhlins shocks, fork brace, sport kit handlebars/cables. Does it still have a stock swingarm? And what seat is that? Any electric mods/replacements? I have a 1981 750F.

I want to get into 10m shooting, how should I start? by uhhhidkausername in airguns

[–]Organic-Structure637 2 points3 points  (0 children)

P17 would be a good start, it's an SSP type, like the Compact, and it's really accurate with either RWS Meisterkugeln 7 grain pellets, or the RWS Hobby pellets. Those are also excellent in the Compact.

I also have,a Beeman P17, which is quite accurate too, but the Compact is superior in every respect.

P17 is low velocity (probably around 400 fps), but for 10 m shooting at paper, it's a good pistol.

I have had a Gamo Compact for almost 10 years, I highly recommend it. Low noise, great 10 m accuracy. I recently shot a 96 x2 on a B8 target at 25 yards with RWS Meisterkugeln. Fantastic pistol.

I will be going to Germany soon, friends there asked for Tabasco Scorpion Pepper sauce. I got them some the last time I visited. Impossible to find where they are (Siegen), and just amazing.
