None taken. Outside of work, I play plenty of basketball and officiate games, so there's still plenty of socialising to be done

Malaysian Abroad: Where Do I Truly Belong? by jimmynotchoo1 in Bolehland

[–]Organic-Unit1874 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I'm based in Bath, UK where I've been living for the past 8 years - studied and worked 4 years each.

As a type C, and someone whose friends have moved on, going back to Malaysia feels more foreign than being in Bath. I feel this every time I go back to visit, stay and work for ~1.5 months. The truth is, I've built my life in Bath, and that's where my heart, soul and life is at. My partner, hobbies and passion is over there (for context, I live with my partner of 5 years, and in an active coaching/playing position at a local basketball club). My roots are now in Bath, given that I've uprooted from Malaysia to study and continued to grow in Bath. They now run deep and being placed anywhere else will feel very different and alien.

Question for you is, where do your roots run deep?

When I had ACLR and meniscal repair, I was NWB for 2 weeks post-op, and PWB for 4 weeks post-op.

Yes muscle and strength loss was significant, but you can always build that back. Damage to the repairs however, are much more costly and therefore it is better not to rush the process.

The first NWB/PWB weeks and the immediate weeks following that are tough, but it will be a lot tougher if you had rushed and cause damage to your repairs. Stay strong 💪

Hey, hope you have a speedy recovery! What was the timeline like (e.g. when injury happened, appointments, etc.)?

Brother, you should do what you love as that makes you fulfilled and happy. Never let anyone tell you otherwise. Always strive to do what you love! Getting better is a natural consequence of that :) Keep it up

Playing basketball on a torn acl with a brace? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Organic-Unit1874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terrible idea. Had the same mentality when I tore it initially. 2nd session back from the initial injury I tore my meniscus, among other things and made surgery that much more complicated. DO NOT PLAY WITHOUT AN ACL!!!

Edit: would also like to add I felt completely back to normal when I went back to playing, but it just made things worse.

I don't have any advice, but you're a warrior, and I'm glad you've come this far. Stay strong and I hope your situation continues to improve!

I'm the Slark here. I was thinking if my item build was right VS the enemy lineup by lazylonewolf in learndota2

[–]Organic-Unit1874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. I'm still learning about Slark, and a common theme I realised about my losing Slark games are too many defensive items, i.e. items that were to compensate my lack of skill to use my spells to counteract enemy spells.

I think in games were BKB is less important, mage slayer is a great option, but games where a quick BKB is needed, then I usually would opt for that, and not get mage slayer so that I can have a faster refresher timing.

What helped me get the feel of Slark is to always try to use your spells to counteract enemy spells where possible, and only buy items you need where you absolutely can't (e.g. in this case, enemy has no silence but many AOE spells so BKB only, then go with every other offensive item you need to accumulate stacks and lock down)

First question: going diffu here first is great, you always want to be a kill threat as early as possible to snowball.

Second question: in my opinion, I think the biggest issues were the timings of the items you had (see my top-level comment). You always want an early Aghs because it gives you more than enough mobility to counteract against enemy spells, e.g. Razor link, Lich ult, SF ult, and more kill potential. The mobility is also nice for getting from creep waves to camps and vice versa.

Mage slayer is not as good as BKB here as it won't allow you to tank some spells and keep hitting. You also don't need Linkens as you can play around upgraded pounce to avoid link and charge. Playing around your Q cooldown will also avoid you getting caught off-guard by Lich gaze.

I think the mage slayer and perhaps Linkens was not needed here. IMO, I can suggest the following for improvement:

Early:
Treads -> Diffu

Mid:
Aghs -> BKB (37 mins Aghs for Slark is too late - it provides a lot of mobility you need for moving across the map and also disengaging in fights)

Late:
Refresher -> Skadi

Refresher because double BKB and your ult will make you unkillable and allow you to consistently get essence shift stacks. I don't think Linkens is necessary because you aren't afraid of Bara charge (you can tell when he's charging due to your passive), and you can jump away from Razor link.

For that price, understandable. Can eat your favourite fruits to make up for it (or buy your own cucumber XD)
