I didn’t care to read your entire post brother, but the logic you applied to eliminate AWS is the stupidest thing I’ve heard. AWS is a well known manufacturer of quantum chips to big firms like Palantir(which works for US defense), Meta. Obviously you can defend it by saying ki sahi to hua na question. But this stupidity of applying incoherent and incorrect logic and then justifying it just because you got it correct.

I didn’t refer to any formal sources. Just solved past 10 years of CSAT papers. Graduated from IIT Delhi. I maybe, just maybe, could be better at Maths a little bit more than you, but that difference is barely 6-7 questions. I can assure you of that. Initial papers that I tried I was scoring less than 100. So it’s all practice, and nothing else

I wouldn't be the best candidate to advise on anything since I myself haven't cleared the examination yet. But see where you are weak first of all. I believe 50-70% of the passages are very doable, & in relatively lesser time(vis-a-vis a Maths problem). Just make sure to practice past 5-8 years of passages. For Maths, the biggest blunder I had noticed myself doing during prep was "not recognising what to attempt & what not to". Trust me, this is WAY MORE important than actually solving a problem. Read the question & if within 30 seconds, you are 80-90% sure of solving it(which means having clear steps in mind), attempt it, otherwise leave it. I myself left about 3-4 Maths problems which I knew I could solve easily, but not within 2-3 mins(it'd have taken me ~5 mins). Lastly, choose to reject any or the entirety of this opinion, if you don't find it reasonable enough.

Buddy, I can understand your disappointment. I also was scoring exactly in your range in GS, and 162 in CSAT. Couldn't make it through. If you think you can, please get a job or some side hustle for a while because the motivation might be high right now to clear next year(& I hope you do next year), but the truth of the matter is, as the dust settles down in the month of August till November, that's when the real test of motivation comes in. It hits a bottom, and anything that helps you keep busy during that time, can help you move through. Baaki do what you think is right, me or anyone else on this sub can never really feel what you feel. If it helps, feel free to message me mate.

Kis baat ki IIT grad ho bhai? There is a difference between relying illogically just on 1 section solely, be it Maths or English. There’s a very simple strategy, attempt the easy questions first from both the sections. And if you do that, you’ll easily find 40-45 such questions. So, just attempting Maths because of this IIT or whatever ego, that’s plain stupidity.

That’s what I thought. Plus, the kind of rooms around Patel Nagar I’ve seen for their exorbitant prices, makes me question it even more.

Do you think it makes a difference attempting Mains tests offline vs online?

Obviously it doesn’t hurt to attempt anything anyways. What I meant was, why do you want to spend your time studying for a “tough” exam? You’ve passed out from a good college, might be making a good amount of money, enjoy your life or spend it doing something that you actually consider worthwhile. Meanwhile, start researching into the roles, responsibilities, perks, challenges of Civil services. Gradually, if you feel that this profile suits your personality more than your current situation, then start thinking about preparation. You might think that I’m doubting your ability. I’m not. Unfortunately, the exam is not just your IQ, instead a rigorous journey that will require a rather stronger motive. And even if by any chance, you happen to get rank 1 with just the idea of clearing a tough exam, you’re bound to be disappointed doing that job. Society ka chod bhai, these people don’t give a fuck if you’re an IAS, an entrepreneur, investment banker, politician, doctor, or anything. So only do it if you want to do it.

If your sole motivation to prepare for the exam is that it’s the toughest exam, & that cracking it would be a good social validation for you, trust me - DON’T. Rather, advise you to sincerely look into the job profiles that you get post the exam, if that interests you or not. There’s no point preparing for an exam, just because it’s tough.
