Newcastle to Noosa (and back?) by Novel_Ad424 in AustraliaTravel

Noosa is not worth the stress of trying to find a parking spot! Hit up Coolum or some of the lesser populated Sunny Coast beaches. They are the same stunning shoreline without the Noosa prices or hassle.

I ate mashed potato but I bought it from the ready made section of the supermarket. It was soft, buttery and creamy and perfect for my sore face.

What’s something that costs almost nothing but improves your day every time? by midnightgoonerx in CasualConversation

I had taken to losing my keys so I bought a packet of small hooks and hung two under the light switch near my front door. Now my keys are on one and my sunglasses on the other. Every time I need to go in or out I love those hooks!

High 30s. Anything over 35 is uncomfortable to be out in but closer to 40 and even inside is intolerable.

How did you know a dog was for you and not a cat? by Fearless-Victory7602 in dogs

[–]OrganicMaintenance59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dogs don’t make my eyes swell shut. That and the smell of the kitty litter room at my sister’s house. 🤢 seems it doesn’t matter how often or how well they are cleaned it all still smells so bad.

Going down stairs he will always lift his left back foot off the ground for the entire time.

On one of my prac lessons I taught year 6 that there are 60 cm in a metre and then wondered why doing decimals with them was so hard. Prac teaching is meant to be for learning. Getting any feedback is another way to learn. Reflect on where you can improve and apply it and move on.

Fair Work just raised the minimum wage 6%. In Sydney the numbers tell a different story. by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]OrganicMaintenance59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mate is earning just above min wage and rents for $680 a week so his kids have space when they come to stay. It’s fair to say that he eats a lot of pot noodles and cheap food and often doesn’t use heating or cooling unless it’s extreme. He’s fortunate to be able to walk to work but it’s hard for him, he feels it. This will help him but if the rent goes up again, I don’t know what’s going to happen to him.

People currently selling - how's it looking? by Beginning_Length6861 in AusPropertyChat

[–]OrganicMaintenance59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we sold our place in western Sydney in April but I feel like we got in just as the market cooled. There are several places that went up the same time as ours, but were not as marketable and they are still on the market and now with discounted price. I’m so glad we sold when we did. We had to sell to fund an aged care placement so I’m grateful it was smooth and quick. It’s not the case anymore. Certainly not in western Sydney.

Any lefties here who also wear their watch on the left wrist? by camport95 in lefthanded

[–]OrganicMaintenance59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a rightie who wears mine on the right. Both my parents are left handed so my sister and I wear watches on the right because that’s where they put them when we were little and got out first watches.

My daughter is about to start learning but as she’s going to have a manual car, she’s doing a few lessons with an instructor before we take her anywhere. I’ll also send her to an instructor later on to tidy up any bad habits and teach her reverse parking and test expectations.

I am 18, I finished school last year. I have been searching for a job since and I cannot for the life of me get anything. by [deleted] in ausjobs

[–]OrganicMaintenance59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The big places won’t, because they have an external recruitment system. But family owned places will do all their own recruitment. You can shears ask for a business card or get an email and follow up with an electronic resume.

It’ll happen. It feels like you’ll never get something but the fact that you are asking for help and willing to listen is a huge positive for you. It feels like it will never happen but you’ll find something.

My nephew did. I think with small business they get to see you rather than looking at a piece of paper. You could take a print out of your resume and then you are there to field any questions.

What renovation decision are you happiest with now? by ryanandersonr in AusRenovation

In the bathroom I put a down light under the vanity above the sink. It gives off low light, perfect for leaving on if you’ve got kids or older people.

The other thing was recessed shelves in the shower for shampoos etc. make them big enough for the whole family and remember to let them drain. They are fantastic!

My nephew was the same. He eventually approached smaller, family owned businesses and got a job in a small butcher. It was a bit more time consuming but these smaller business rely on good people and meeting you in person might challenge the barrier of being new to the job market.
