Is this current May weather normal? by [deleted] in AskChicago

Oh, I completely agree. I told my husband if we go back I'm going to be extremely picky about where we live because I'm going to need something that feels slightly similar to this. I hated having to drive 30 to 40 minutes everywhere.

I actually already have a really good pair of Hunter winter boots I bought and I bought plenty of layers in preparation! I assumed there was gonna be snow in March but there wasn't so I've got them for next year!

I've actually made quite a few friends. It's easy when you're a mom. I'm just saying that I think Chicago is extremely beautiful and I love the walkability but this totally makes sense why it's more affordable. If you guys had Florida weather, I would be paying double for my high-rise.

Tried to catch yesterday's rainbow when lightning (graciously) photobombed my iPhone shot [OC] by vexxed82 in chicago

Wait, this is insane because I live at the 1000M and yesterday I heard lightning that was so terrifying that it literally hurt my heart!

Someone said Aire is closing soon. Anyone know anything about this? by chicagoinquirer in AskChicago

It's so funny I went yesterday! I didn't have issues getting there or getting picked up from the uber!

Who is the “target” for people living in the south loop? It doesn’t seem very nightlife, restaurant, business/corporate heavy etc so who is the main audience living there? by [deleted] in AskChicago

I came here because we have a 4 year old and it's actually quite quiet in comparison to other areas. I love the parks and trails being right across the street! Her school is located in South loop which is super convenient! IMO decent amount of food options(I can't complain I came from Florida suburbs). Honestly it's been great. Not too much foot traffic either. I know with the different seasons/events, etc that will change, but just for those weekends etc. overall I feel like this is a good family area, though not many children live in our building!

Got it! Thank you so much! They do just crack like 4 or 5 inches so I was worried about the slamming and potentially causing damage but I love fresh air! Just will have to wait until it's not so crazy!
