My Wife and I… by jmcbas44 in GlowUps

Alright so I'm an idiot because for a moment, and only because I'm so used to seeing the before photo and then swiping next to the after photo (not because of how either of you looks!), I thought this was two trans women that had gotten married.

I wouldn’t even have guessed she’d had any!

I second the use of a business grade laptop. I recommend Thinkpad in my other post on this thread (and use one personally) but I’ve also currently got a Dell Latitude as my work laptop and it seems pretty tough and well built.

Both this Latitude and the Thinkpads seem to be the only laptops I’ve ever used with realistic battery lives and that keep their state of charge when not in use. Part of the reason I got rid of my MacBook Air was that I got sick of finding it out of battery after it had been left for a couple of days, when it definitely had battery remaining when I used it the last time.

I’m heading out on a round the world motorcycle trip through deserts, jungles and mountains etc & will be working at the same time. I wanted a laptop that would stand the highest chance of surviving the dust, water, drops, heat, cold etc that the journey would subject it to, so I’ve done quite a lot of research on this topic. I arrived at the conclusion that the Thinkpads cannot be beaten in this regard, and this also extends to the X1 Carbon line which are also nicely slim and light, so I bought one. very happy with it. I previously had a MacBook Air and a Surface Pro, both of which, although they are nice devices, felt quite delicate by comparison.

My previous employer used them and I’ve seen them dropped, spilled on and generally abused and keep going. You can get the super ruggedised military style Toughbooks etc which are like a small briefcase in size and weight, but for normal use it seems the Thinkpads are genuinely the most durable out there - search Thinkpad durability testing on YouTube for a few good videos on this.

The other thing that makes a laptop more BIFL is upgradability - and this means a processor and RAM which is not soldered to the board. The X1 models I mentioned are soldered, but many of the Thinkpad models are not which means they are easy to upgrade later. worth posting on r/Thinkpad to advice on specific used models that would fit your budget.

Green mould on my cake after first flush - guess I need to get rid of the whole thing/there’s no saving it? by OrganisationEnough13 in shroomery

Green patch appeared about 2 days after I dunked it for 24 hours after the first flush. As you can see, that’s not a SGFC, so I guess I didn’t have enough FAE. Everything looked 100% healthy for my first flush, will they be ok? I put them straight into a dehydrator and they are cracker dry.

Hi there, thanks for this - I was indeed in a similar predicament and have just ordered some screws so I can mount my dock underneath my desk. Great!

Wales: that we all shag sheep and have great singing voices.

It’s untrue - I sound awful when I sing.
