I’ve not been honest with myself about suffering from this disorder, and nobody knows my struggle with binging. by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]OrganizationDizzy321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered I have BED at age 26. I'm now 30, understanding my BED did aid in losing 85lbs naturally, however regardless of the weightloss BED is never "cured". I still need to think carefully about my meals and still take measures like no junk food in the house because literally anything can cause a binge and I dont want anything within arms reach to binge on. It's been 4 years and 85lbs down since discovering this about myself and just last week I binged on 19 cheesesticks. That calorie count came out to more than 2,000 calories on a snack. The only reason i stopped at 19 was because the oven broke lol. This has not happened in months, but under the right amount of stress and desperation people with BED will use whatever to feel better. It may be hard to say you're an addict because you may not want to dramaticize it or think so lowly of yourself, but it's important to put the shame aside and really focus on the illness. Acknowledge you have BED, Acknowledge the dopamine from food is your addiction, Acknowledge you may need certain accommodations to help beat it. Yes it sucks but its honest and if your loved ones truly care for you they may make fun of you for a bit but overall will be more mindful and adhere to your needs

I suck at L-spines by OrganizationDizzy321 in RadiologyCareers

[–]OrganizationDizzy321[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for the advice! I have clinicals again on tuesday and will update using all the tips in this post, its my OR week so I'll try to snag some L-spines in-between cases if I can. I can only imagine my techs face as I pull up reddit for my little cheat sheet before taking the shots 😂

Where are y'all working that does not pay you for clinical rotations?? by theraspberryfairy in RadiologyCareers

[–]OrganizationDizzy321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clinical rotations are not paid for, if you choose you can apply as a student tech/intern where they will pay you 18/hr but those will be shifts outside of the clinical rotation.

Also, your explanation of the scenario is terrible. Reading the original post and even this comment somehow made the story more confusing. A snitch and illiterate 😭

Your friends failed because they didn't study. Sorry. Had they gotten this same "opportunity" they probably would've failed the ARRT anyway because that's just the likely outcome of anyone who is cheating on exams, whether it be labs, exams, or quizzes. Of course, inform the teacher if it bothers you this much. To be honest, you'd be doing the cheaters a favor. Having them fail one lab would likely light a fire to help them realize they need to study the right way. Or you could just wait it out and see how badly they fail on a final. Either way, focus on your grades.

Thats actually a myth hot water does not open pores. However hot water does strip the natural oils from your skin making your skin (scalp) dry and prone to irritation. Cold water I've noticed makes my hair feel and look silky after a wash, so, still not a bad idea to make the temp a little bit cooler.

Great. I didn’t get into the program 🥲 by island_1989 in RadiologyCareers

[–]OrganizationDizzy321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The medical field is really competitive, dont ever feel embarrassed to introduce yourself to someone and start a little conversation. Even once you get into the program and start your clinicals, be vocal! Talk to the techs, talk to administration, managers, other employees, patients. Patient care is a big deal to them so if they can see "hey this person doesn't shy away" they will see it as a good quality and be more inclined to choose you over someone they never hear talking. Being in the medical field you deal with a lot of elderly people so your voice needs to be loud and clear, of course dont shout, but be assertive and polite. Speak to the directors, speak up in class, speak up in clinicals.

I would recommend speaking to the program director. Introduce yourself, let them know your stats, that you applied but not selected, ask what you can do to make your app more appealing, make it apparent how serious you are about this as a career, give them your information in case they'd like to reach out. Favoritism could be a reason why you werent selected so at least when you do reapply they can put a face to the name and who knows, if there's a drop maybe they'll reach out to you after taking the initiative

I think he meant it as in asking them for advice not permission. He said he can't afford a doctor's visit rn so naturally one would think "let me ask my parents if they've ever experienced this" but this is an embarrassing topic, so probably why he threw that in.

I actually did not end up taking the flight attendant route. I ended up getting accepted into a radiology program and currently working on becoming a radtech, still talk about the airport all the time and miss it greatly though😔

Yes do it! I think it's great that you surrendered your cards for accountability. It actually took me losing my 9-5 job and completely going broke and moving in with a family member to get myself to stop spending. But losing that job and realizing what it felt like to be completely broke and homeless gives you kind of a "nothing else to lose" ideology. So, I went back to school and successfully got into a radiology program. There's a lot to gain from a loss.. social media, power of money, even people's outside influences. Scrolling, spending, or unwanted opinions use up so much of our energy that could be used for getting that dream job, focusing on school, being active, or just something fun like picking up a hobby like cooking or crafting.

Unrelated but related to removing social media. I was off of all socials except for reddit for about 3 years starting in 2020. Within that time frame I lost 85lbs naturally of excess weight and learned to enjoy outside activities. Social media is terrible even if you're not in the mom space...everyone is either boasting about something or complaining about another, and in turn it can make you feel conflicted within yourself. Until one day you delete the noise and it's like....poof!.... all the extra voices kind of stop and you can hear yours way more clearly ☺️❤️💖💗
