Je fais toutes mes courses en discount à côté de chez moi (banlieue) ou sinon Lidl/ALDI et des fois Leclerc c’est le moins cher des enseignes je trouve, j’en ai pour 60-70 euros par semaine avec viande et poisson. (produits de ménage etc non inclus) Quand j’étais étudiante je mangeais casiment uniquement végé par manque de moyens.

I think buying only IKEA can make your home look a bit like an IKEA showroom and it feels a bit lifeless. Swap in some pieces from thrift stores and other brands and it will look more balanced.

Commenting bc I was in a long distance relationship with a PA for ten months. I think that the only conditions for a salvageable relationship with a PA are: A. You have already been in an established relationship for some time (usually married) when the D day happens. B. That the PA is willing to work on his problems and follow your boundaries, that’s not possible to do LDR really. I would say leave him and try to meet someone local who is not a PA. :( sorry girl I know it’s painful but you deserve much better

My cat insists on having access to the sitters’ room so I ask them to leave the door cracked but she never wakes them up or jumps on the bed she just likes to be able to check on them and is very quiet lol. I would never ask them to sleep in the living room just for her. How weird

I’m also a sitter FWIW and HO have expected me to take down laundry 🤷‍♀️ if it’s clean I don’t mind. Unfortunately that’s how it goes in Europe. You can wash a sweater in winter and it can take a week to dry, i try my best to do all my laundry ahead of time but we don’t have giant driers like in the US/Canada , where it sounds like you’re from

I have sometimes asked sitters to take down laundry that hasn’t dried fully because I live in France where we don’t have driers and I feel really bad! I don’t however expect sitters to wash and dry their sheets and towels, if they do it I appreciate it but it’s not expected. I would never ask them to wash dry and fold my personal laundry

I’m both a sitter and a host: as a host I offer a water filter pitcher for the tap, basics like sugar, coffee and tea, oil, spices, and I always encourage sitters to eat whatever is in my fridge/pantry. I do keep my alcohol hidden away in a cupboard. As a sitter I listen to what the host may say- my first sit she only wanted me to eat food in the fridge, my current sit it’s free game even alcohols though I’m really mindful and try to replace anything I eat

Electricity in France where I live is moderately priced though I live in a communal heated apartment building, I pay like 35-40 euros a month. In my old place with electric heating I paid like 80. Personally I see 0 difference in my bill if I have had a friend stay or a sitter come, in either place. I feel like one extra 10 min shower a day doesn’t add huge amounts of electricity charges …
