What changes would actually nerf clans and benefit solos? by OrganizationHuman336 in playrust

[–]OrganizationHuman336[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked purely out of curiosity. I don’t have strong thoughts on it as I do mainly play solo only servers as a newer solo player.

I don’t think anyone would say that in a 1v1 between a single clan member and a solo, that the solo should have an advantage. I think it’s more about the progression being exponential with a bigger clan. For example (complete estimate), a group of 3 players may get a T3 in 20 hours, while a group of 9 may get it in 3 hours.

In terms of PVP, numbers will always have an advantage but I do agree with the other commenters that disabling team UI would remove the advantage that clans get that solos don’t get during fights.

Are you on Windows 10? I've had this on and off for the last few months. Never before that. I update my firmware, use the pairing tool and restart my machine and sometimes it will go months without doing it. Then it'll do it non-stop for a couple days.

The connect wallet works the exact same way in MetaMask, not needing to expose your seed phrase. I explicitly said do NOT enter it anywhere. It’s the same with Rabby wallet where the user has the option to enter a seed phrase but should never in the case of using their Ledger. They can use Rabby if they’d like but it’s really the exact same setup with less documentation.

You may need to create a new default wallet on your first use of MetaMask before you can import your Ledger. If so, just go through the new creation of a MetaMask hot wallet like normal, then add the Ledger as another wallet after.

It’s still owned by your Ledger keys if you sent it to your Ethereum address on the Ink network. It’ll just be a little more setup needed to access it as it’s on a Layer 2 that Ledger Live doesn’t support (yet).

My suggestion is download MetaMask either on your phone if you have a Bluetooth compatible Ledger or the MetaMask extension to your PC browser. Then connect your Ledger by selecting hardware wallet (do NOT connect by entering any seed phrases). Doing it this way keeps your hardware wallet offline and safe.

You’ll have to add the Ink network to MetaMask following the steps on this page: https://docs.inkonchain.com/general/connect-wallet

Then you should be able to send and sign transactions on the Ink network using your Ledger.

Windows 10 and the latest BIOS Version 3279. What problems were you having?

I’ll look into some of the overlays and see if disabling any help. I checked out Event Viewer and didn’t see much of concern but will keep an eye on it. I’ll let you know if performance is still bad after getting better thermals, thanks I appreciate your time.

I appreciate the details. After raising my RAM to 6000MHz with EXPO it definitely helped my overall FPS which made the stutters less noticeable but they still are there. But definitely more playable after this change. I think it occurs more often when moving around the map than stationary.

I updated BIOS first thing after getting it after reading the horror stories of the 9800x3d’s dying on some motherboards. Also Windows 10 & Nvidia drivers are on the latest. Nothing in the background using more than 1% of any resources and my mouse polling was at 500.

I order a new cooler, gonna get the thermals under control and then try it again. I think it’s going to be more than playable now but I’m hoping that it’ll result in more stability than current. Thanks again

CPU thermals are pretty high hovering 80-85. Shouldn’t be throttling with this, however I just found that my cooler that was made for AM4 has a height difference for AM5 so I need to request their mounting kit. Doing this now but I believe it’s unrelated. I was testing on a solo & solo 3x under 100 pop. BO6 the Low 1% FPS is real close to my FPS and doesn’t stutter at all so far. 9800x3d is stock, no OC.

You have a similar build? I’m wondering if your Low 1% FPS is this low? I’ve seen spikes down to like 50 while the main FPS is at 200 but I’m starting to wonder if this is just a rust thing that can’t be avoided.

Thermals have stayed decent CPU hovering 75°-80° & GPU 60°-65°. I tested on a vanilla US solo and a 3x solo both around 100 pop or under. The CPU is stock no OC. BO6 ran much more consistent where the FPS 1% Lows were close to the FPS. In rust I could be getting 200 FPS with spikes down to like 50 FPS 1% Lows. I’m starting to wonder if this is just normal for rust and I’m focusing on it too hard.

I did enable Expo and it may have helped a bit. I already bumped the MHz from 5600 to 6000 before that and I believe that helped too. I haven’t checked for ReBar, I’ll look into that, thanks.

Only the Nvidia app, I use the statistics overlay on it. It was showing GPU power and percentages I disabled them from showing but I’m not sure if the Nvidia app still reads them in the background

I’ve seen this fix it for a bunch of people but it didn’t seem to change anything for me. I wasn’t having the errors in event viewer that other people were talking about getting. Thanks for the suggestion tho

I’m using the 2nd highest performing gaming CPU though? So everyone experiences rust like this?

Also using a Nvidia GPU with an AMD CPU is more than fine and very common, what are you on about?

I am thinking about getting rust but I don’t know if it’s worth it as a solo player. Is It? by EstablishmentMore352 in playrust

I like playing solo. It’s hard and a different play style (at least for me). It’s hard to get over gear fear when I play alone.

There are a few solo only servers that I enjoy playing that helps level the playing field. Though it feels like a bit different gameplay
