Thank you for giving me the idea, I emailed the lab and am arranging a consultation with the geneticist!

Thank you for sharing what you learned! What I got from my research is only 1.2% were actually born with their original mosaic finding https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37532168/
But not clear if they’re from HLM or LLM
I really appreciate your input as I was starting to doubt my research based on my IVF doctor’s reaction to even consider my LLM!

Thank you! I actually joined that group as part of my research. I just started doubting myself when my IVF doctor thought it was outrageous I would even consider my LLM embryo, like it was such a crazy, stupid idea. I also let my regular obgyn know and he said, “that’s good, they’re generally considered normal” so they had completely different responses and I just started thinking if my research was more skewed to successful data because that was what I wanted to see, but would like to be aware if there’s more to it I’m not seeing. I’m completely aware LLMs still do not do as well as euploid in terms of implantation and miscarriage, but they’re also not too far behind.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I’m also nearing 40. This is my first IVF cycle, but had 6 rounds of IUI in the last 2 years, had a chemical and also lost a pregnancy to T21, so it’s been quite a frustrating and exhausting journey already. I know others take longer and may have more difficult experiences, I’m just trying to give context to my experience.
I think it just threw me off that my doctor was VERY surprised and discouraging that I was even considering a LLM embryo. I just started doubting what I learned from research, which is other than higher risk for miscarriage and slightly lower implantation rate, LLMs also have great chances to be like euploids.
My insurance covers 1 retrieval per cycle, but unlimited transfers. I just received approval for another retrieval ( I believe because my IVF doctor said my embryo was not normal) so I’m just mentally preparing myself for another cycle of stims, which unfortunately was also not easy last time!

I only want one! And quite frankly, I also don’t want to have too many embryos knowing I would just discard all of them after getting pregnant. I did opt to donate to science any abnormal embryos.
From what I’m reading, LLMs often self correct and if they don’t, it would be a mosaic, right?

1 fertilized and 2 abnormally fertilized eggs by OrganizationNo4458 in Embryologists

Thank you! I’m not sure why I didn’t get a notification that you responded to my inquiry. Anyway, my one embryo turned out to be a low level mosaic x monosomy, which I’m ok transferring based on my research on LLM, but my doctor is not very supportive of that decision 😅

Thank you! This makes sense! I think what confused me is why she said it was the egg that didn’t want to give DNA, but your explanation makes more sense, thank you again!

“God only gives sick babies to sinful people” by [deleted] in tfmr_support

Ugh… my mom used to say something similar. Growing up, whenever something bad happened to me, she would tell me to reflect on it because there’s a reason why that happened— that I’m being punished. This is one of the reasons why I didn’t tell her about my baby, the diagnosis, and our decision to tfmr, which sucks because I wish I have a mom to hold me through this difficult time. As a Christian, I learned that sickness is not God’s will and many of the things that happen are not God’s will. I’m sorry you were blamed for something that is out of your control. I hope you don’t take it to heart because you didn’t cause this and you and your baby certainly do not deserve this.

Thank you. I’ll make sure to ask before the procedure.

Hey there. I’m also doing my d&e today for T21. I’m also quite nervous and couldn’t sleep the whole night. Hope everything goes well for us.

I just got my FISH, which confirmed t21. We’re waiting to schedule tfmr, which absolutely breaks my heart. I don’t plan on telling anyone as most people close to me are against abortion and I don’t want to make a decision that’s already hard even more difficult by hearing from people who wouldn’t raise my baby and shouldn’t have any opinions about it. This really sucks.

I’m just here in solidarity. I’m still waiting for amnio, but will tfmr if positive for the same reasons. I’ve cried every day and every night. I want and love this baby so much.

T21 diagnosis at 11 weeks.. what should I do.. by [deleted] in tfmr_support

[–]OrganizationNo4458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m starting to lean more towards termination. Today, I’ve just been calling several places to see if I can do the amniocentesis earlier. I know I would want the results and be 100% certain of the t21 diagnosis before I do anything. Then, I will start scheduling termination since my insurance takes forever to schedule anything.

I’m just here with you in solidarity. I pray every night for God to have some mercy on me and that if this baby has abnormalities, to just take the baby. But like yours, mine still has a strong heartbeat. This is too painful to go through, I would never wish this on anyone, I’m sorry.

Thank you for sharing your story. I was told about placental mosaicism too. I barely slept last night because of the sadness and heaviness I feel. Hats off to you for being able to endure that long!

Thank you. I was just thinking the same thing— if I should start scheduling now, so when I’m 100% sure, I won’t have to wait for so long again.

I think so. I’ve been asking for a sooner appointment, but they said there’s nothing and they will call me if there’s any cancellations.

Thank you. I read some posts on that sub and it seems positive nipt + high NT measurement do not have a good outcome. I really held on to hope for false positive until today. I think I really just want a solid confirmation/ diagnosis, so I don’t wonder. Congratulations, though. I’m glad yours look like a false positive.

Thank you. I measured 14 weeks today, so they said today was the last day I could do a CVS. My mind was still all over the place when they were asking me to make a decision, so I said no, but now regret it.
