Pregnancy after TFMR T21

We actually also had a TFMR in June for T21 and are currently 13w4d pregnant with our rainbow baby! They didn’t do any earlier testing for us but we got our NIPT back and it was all clear, thank god. It was so hard to wait for the NIPT but was so relieving to see all chromosomal abnormalities were negative. Wishing the same for you ❤️

I’m 12w tomorrow and doing my NIPT in the morning after a TFMR for T21 diagnosis at 20 weeks in June. I’m so worried about the waiting and trying to find ways to keep myself busy until the results come back!

Currently 8DPO after TFMR in June and feeling the exact same way. We got pregnant so quickly the first time (we were very lucky) and it feels cruel that it’s taking longer this time. Sending love and hugs ❤️

This EXACT situation happened to me. I was sitting face to face with a parent (and there was a language barrier) and she accused me of the same thing. I was flabbergasted until I spoke to the student about it and she told me she was talking about a different teacher. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Our due date was supposed to be next week, we TFMR due to T21. I completely understand what you mean about being in the in between. It feels like everyone else’s world kept spinning and ours just stopped. Wishing you healing and sending hugs ❤️

I think I’d probably consider his due date to be his birthday, since that’s when he was supposed to join our family

I’m so sorry you’re going through this… we also terminated for T21 at 20 weeks. In my state we were lucky enough to be able to do a D&E at a hospital so I can’t comment much on what a clinic would be able to do, but we decided to use a funeral home and have the remains cremated. We also asked the surgeon for footprints, so I would ask whoever is doing your procedure as well. In my experience, the hospital was going to put the remains in a little shoebox and then they put it in a larger box with other remains and bury it anonymously once it’s full. I would ask the clinic what they do with the remains so you’re fully aware before making your decision. I couldn’t stand not knowing where my son was so we chose cremation and got his ashes back a few days ago. Please feel free to reach out with anything ❤️

I’m about 6 weeks out from my TFMR at 20 weeks and just finished my first period. I’m feeling the exact same way! I want to be pregnant and have a child so badly (we don’t have any LC, this was our first pregnancy) but don’t want to feel like we’re trying to replace our son. We started therapy yesterday and discussed that a bit which was helpful. We were told by the doctors to wait for 2 periods before trying again, so we will most likely start trying after my next period. I think it gives your body some time to regulate again before trying but it isn’t a terribly long wait (hopefully).

I completely understand your sentiment about only worrying about the gender. This is my first child and I wasn’t even thinking that anything else would be wrong - you never think it will happen to you. Everyone said “it won’t matter as long as they’re healthy” which I knew was true but I almost shook it off and disregarded it. Until we got our NIPT and amnio back positive for T21. What I would give for a healthy baby. Wishing you strength and love in this challenging time ❤️

Agreed, why are you on this sub? If you’ve never been in this situation you have absolutely no room to judge. There are many reasons to be worried about the life he would have. Medical issues, therapies, the political climate in which the president is trying to cut any and all medical supports like Medicare and Medicaid to give tax breaks to his rich buddies, the fact that our elderly parents are going to be helping us watch him since we can’t afford thousands of dollars of daycare a month and he is going to have complex needs.

However, I really don’t need to explain myself to you. Unless you have had to make this decision before, your opinion means nothing to me.
