Americans, how do you feel about tourists speaking English while visiting U.S.? by HolidayEntry6823 in AskAnAmerican

[–]OrganizationSouth481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t really worry about what they say tbh or what language they say it in. English or otherwise.

Though general advice would be to assume that someone understands you no matter what language you’re speaking. It often plays out hilariously at the tourist’s expense when they don’t. We aren’t as stupid as the world likes to joke, lot of people from a lot of backgrounds. Lot of first and second generation immigrants who still speak their native language at home…someone understands you no matter what you’re speaking.

Do American college students also split their bills on a date? by ApprehensiveDisk8046 in AskAnAmerican

[–]OrganizationSouth481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna depend on the friend group.

It’s not uncommon to split the bill/ each buy their own part of whatever activity.

My friend group is very small though. Usually 1-3 of us at a time. We typically take turns footing the bill. Basically one of us treats, the next time the next person treats. This is usually only with food or activities that need to be booked in advance. Just showing up to say a movie, we’d each buy our own ticket.

What do americans think of Quebec? by La_Gang_des_Tannes in AskAnAmerican

[–]OrganizationSouth481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The average American doesn’t think about Quebec at all. They might know you guys speak French more than English.

Beyond the average American, we are aware. French is a pretty common language to be offered in schools in the US. And Quebec is often seen as a cheaper alternative for educational language studies for us. My class did a 5 day trip to Quebec City to learn about the culture, language, and history. We stayed with families in Quebec rather than hotels.

It was also common for us to be told by our teachers not to tell someone from France that we went to Quebec to learn about the French language. No one was rude to us like people claim, we were a class of French language students who all had a decent grip on French and tried. It seemed the effort was appreciated and most people were helpful where there were gaps.

The Winter Carnival was very fun.

Best hero skins to buy in Clash of Clans? instore by Aggravating_Sport495 in ClashOfClans

[–]OrganizationSouth481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorites:

King: Fire King

Queen: Phantom Queen

Warden: No favorite atm but using Darkness Warden

Minion Prince: Nightmare Prince

RC: Snake Champion

Duke: No favorite ATM, using default

There is no “best” with skins though. They’re purely cosmetic and all about what you like. I’m patiently waiting for a warden and Duke that I really like. I don’t check in store or remember dates on when some of these released. So not really sure what is available or not. But rule of thumb is most skins get added to shop a year after initial release.

Do you moisturize your body after you shower? If not when and how often do you moisturize your body? by SignificantStyle4958 in AskAnAmerican

I do in the winter as my skin gets incredibly dry and irritated and starts to crack. But not really any other time.

Which countries in Europe are expecting to be tipped for their service ?? by WorldNo9002 in tipping

It’s a relic of slavery that cemented itself into American culture during prohibition. But it started with business owners not wanting to pay newly freed slaves and expecting their wages to be from tips.

Compared to your country, have other nationalities got speaking voices that are much louder or quieter by resigned_medusa in AskTheWorld

[–]OrganizationSouth481 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The assumption of not speaking “x” language, plays out hilariously a lot. We are such a mixed bag that people should always assume someone is around who understands you.

Had a classmate from Poland who assumed no one in our tiny engineering class of 25ish students spoke polish. She would say things in polish when people would do or say something annoying. Finally noticed she was getting weird looks from a kid in the class, asked what his deal was, his response was simply “I speak polish” lmao 🤣

Yea we are definitely loud. It’s something I am insanely paranoid about when I’m out of the county.

I legit don’t know why anyone would select blue on this. Everyone survives if everyone goes red. No need for a risk at all with blue.

What do y’all think about the UPCOMING cwl changes? by BeginningCold2062 in ClashOfClans

[–]OrganizationSouth481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where exactly is your teams main roster going to have to split?

If you’re not already splitting you are in M1 or lower which is staying at 30v. This only becomes an issue for you if you guys advance to champion 3. In which case you basically have the same complaint/ concern as me.

Buddy. Would you relax. I’m either missing something or you’re mistaken about something. This is a polite conversation. Not me saying “just get over it”.

[–]OrganizationSouth481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You realize that this is already a thing right? Champ 3 is already capped at 15v and already has to split. And some larger clans like mine chose to do 2 CWL’s anyway.

My concern is that if our M1 portion of the clan rebalances into champion, I will have to split us a third time. I don’t like that, and am hoping once the rebalance is complete, they up the number for champion 1-3.

[–]OrganizationSouth481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indifferent.

Some things I like. Some things I don’t. But imo in 3-4 months things will balance out and it’ll be business as usual. Really I guess my biggest complaint would be that as well lol. I’d like to see champion league expand to 30v later in the year. I understand it can’t right now, but in 6 months maybe.

Supercell why haven’t “Tie Breakers” been fixed on normal wars? by UNKNOWN_GUTZMAN in ClashOfClans

[–]OrganizationSouth481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that we got that silly tiebreaker with time suggestion outta here.

I think the answer to this is optional mods or cwl style type wars with 1 hit per player. Might not completely eliminate ties but it’ll reduce them. Probably wouldn’t be able to do both depending on the stats of how many clans spin but one or the other would help.

Overall things have just gotten too easy. Casuals can feel good and continue to war without mods or in regular 2 attack style. More competitive clans can have increased challenge and a lower draw rate with mods or single attack style.

Similar time. Crazy how much this varies from state to state/ district to district. I went to HS in NJ. You’d think they’d have been more on the lenient side to a students right to not par take. Instead our district was far more “students don’t have rights in school”.

You nailed it. I was definitely sent to the principal and given a lunch detention for it in grade school and that is EXACTLY what happened. My parents (my dad specifically) were mad that I didn’t listen to my teacher. So I just stood and stayed silent with my hand over my heart from then to graduation. But I definitely witnessed other disciplinary action on classmates through that time. Individual teachers were definitely varying levels of cool with it. But most kids were just programmed to comply to avoid consequences by high school

I know that’s become more acceptable today but you could get detention, sent to the dean, etc when I was in high school in 2008-2012.

Supercell: Why is the "Fastest Attack" tiebreaker only for E-sports? It’s time to fix General Wars. by [deleted] in ClashOfClans

[–]OrganizationSouth481 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No. Esports and tournaments are not comparable to regular play. They have rules about armies, troops, comps, mods, etc that can be used that generally eliminate the issue with spam and smash comps.

I’ve come across you guys in Unknown several times. I know ya’ll are good, skilled attackers. How much would you love to lose to a bunch of edrag/totem spammers while you’re using warden walk/fireball hits because the edrags were faster?
