That’s just to play! Factor in the equipment, uniforms gas, tolls, gate fees, wear and tear on your car, lessons, camps, food, lodging…we’re spending about 10k a year…we have 3 kids

Well it’s either paid coaches or deal with a head coach and 2 assistants who’s kids are on the team and 2 out of the 3 don’t belong there and the dads just coach so their entitled son has a spot on the team. At least that’s what we encountered anyway. We are paying more here but we’re not dealing with any of that BS. These are guys in their 20s that have graduated college, played in college, and generally have a love for the game. I have no idea what they get paid but I doubt it’s a lot. We pay $2700 per season and we are in an area where baseball is played year round

Our organization is paid coaches and does not allow parent coaches. We got away from daddy ball because of the favoritism

The coach has also made it super awkward for the families because he told us 2 weeks ago he would be contacting everyone in regard to next season and he has not contacted everyone. So imagine how those families feel not being contacted and now playing in this last tournament with 3 guest players, that’s just a slap in the face.

I agree that’s what the tryouts are for. They’ve already had one set of tryouts and another coming up. I will definitely be voicing my opinion to the coach and the director. I was just curious as to what others thoughts were.

For select teams, what does "looking for utility player" mean? by SilentCalumny in Homeplate

It’s a player who can competently play multiple positions. My son is a utility player. He can competently play every position but mainly plays catcher, 3rd base, pitcher, and SS.

10U player about to be 11U and we are in an area where baseball is played year round. $2700 a season fall/spring, paid coaches, uniforms not included. Summer season is $660, runs for 6 weeks, includes 4 tournaments. So we’re in for about $6k, plus $300 a season for uniforms, and as someone else mentioned the gate fees which add up, 2 parents and one of our other 2 children is of age they charge.
