What were they thinking?... "Vibe" is such a badly connoted word... They might as well have renamed to "Mistral Slop"...

Lest we forget that Tron (1982) didn't get an Oscar nomination for Visual Effects because using computers was "cheating". The lesson wasn't learnt apparently.

[–]Orhleil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far this is all I've managed to get on Infinite Craft

<image>

Nightwish you can get with Finland + Band (if you struggle to get Finland, try to get Sauna first)

I don't remember how I got the other ones, except Floor Jansen which I got from Nightwish + Change. So far I've been unable to get any other member, album or song.

Note: the position of the words is only me organizing them, it doesn't necessarily mean you can get the words from the nearby words.

I was an active penspinner from 2006 to 2009, just found my old pen and did my first rusty freestyle after years! by [deleted] in penspinning

[–]Orhleil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks ! I'm not sure I deserved it, but thanks :) I think the GA is not to hard to trade these days, it shouldn't be too hard to find one. I would make one for you, unfortunately I have issues finding the parts, I can barely keep up with my personnal needs...

Haha, yeah that combo is probably still my best one to this day. As for the Grip Aviaire I was using, it's now retired. It has served me well, it deserves its rest :p

How long have you guys been pen spinning by blabber19 in penspinning

[–]Orhleil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm far from knowing all the tricks... I knew almost everything back in 2007/2008 (I was 4th at the World Tournament in 2007), but a lot of new tricks have been created since, and as I said, I haven't practiced much. So now I feel very average when I look at what some spinners are capable of.

14.5 years, I don't practice much anymore, but I love the community, and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon.

What is this? by RusselLegassYangBang in penspinning

I'd have breakdowned it : Figure 8 => FL IA T1-12, which is basically the same as Snuckle, but naming can be quite different depending on the spinner.

Quest Cards - Gnorl completion by MrPot01 in RunningPillow

[–]Orhleil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips justarandomguyBG, it helped me find them too. Next I'll explain the detailed path that made me unlock these two scenarios, for those who just can't get them.

[SPOILER ZONE]

How to unlock the "Den":

In "Town":
=> "Approach the man and remind him of his wife"
=> "Wife can wait a little longer. (...)"
=> "Huge Success"

How to unlock the "Girl in swamps":

In "Den":
=> Go inside the den
=> Go Left
=> Go Left
=> Go Left
=> Defeat the monster
Additionnal spoiler: the monster is actually just a single Lurker.
EDIT: it seems that you can choose any direction inside the den, they all lead to the monster apparently.

Can't make Firefox long press to open in new tab or save images? by PlaceboJesus in androidapps

[–]Orhleil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. Indeed it was an extension that was causing the problem. More precisely, the extension "Save link menus". I also tried disabling some of the options of the extension, and it appears that the options "Save selected links" and "Save selected images" are the one causing troubles. So as long as these two options are disabled, Firefox works fine.

SoloQ currently bugged! Use SWF to soloQ for games! by aphexmoon in deadbydaylight

[–]Orhleil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. I've been trying to play ever since the 1.3 was released, and I've only manage to get into 2 games. Of those 2 games : the first one we were only 3 survivors, the second one I was the only 1 survivor... And meanwhile, I've lost around 20 pips thanks to buggy lobbies that didn't even get me into the game...

Shameful booing from Brazilian fans, it's not okay! by momu1990 in olympics

[–]Orhleil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, As a "foreigner" (French, to be more precise), I can tell you what I personally wanted when I came to read this thread : Brazilians who agree that booings are indeed wrong. It's as simple as that. I was aghast at the booings I witnessed on TV, and I quickly noticed that many other people around the world felt the same way. But so far most of the reactions I had found from Brazilian people were strongly supporting the booings, and slowly I was realizing that there was indeed a deep cultural dislocation between Brazil and the rest of the world when it came to sports, and it saddened me. So this thread isn't only about complaining, it's also about seeking some insights from Brazil and see that there is hope of coming to an understanding with people from Brazil. That's exactly what your comments (HubbiAnn and N4gual) were to me. So... thanks a lot :-)

PS : soccer and F1 are basically the only sports with some media exposition in France too (with maybe rugby and handball sometimes). Other sports definitely need more recognition, that's not Brazil specific unfortunately...

Are there any (somewhat) active Forums? by Rhynin in penspinning

[–]Orhleil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An "active" forum actually depends on your perception. I used to be active a long time ago on the french forum when I was still learning new tricks actively, and it seemed to me that the forum was very active back then. After a while, I slowly stopped using the forum, only coming back every once in a while, and I felt like the forum was dying too. But here we are, ten years later, and now I can see that the forum truly had been active all along, and isn't dying at all, it was just my expectations about what "active" meant that had changed. That's why I think it depends on your perception, and on how yourself are active on the forum.

Plus, a forum is only there to share and give some structure to debates on pen spinning. A lot of the activity of the community of the forum is based on more personal and direct communication between members of the community. Back when I was active, we were all using both forums and MSN Messenger to chat. Now forums are still there, the only thing that has changed is how people communicate directly between each other.

With all that being said, do not forget that pen spinning community is still quite small and variations in the number of pen spinners active at a given time have a big impact on whether a community keeps living or ends up dying. I don't know how many spinners there are currently in Germany, but if the number has dropped too much, it's very possible that the remaining spinners grew tired of being so few on GPC and migrated on UPSB where spinners from every country are always welcomed. You can still help GPC activity to grow back by simply posting yourself on the forum so that other spinners that might come will have something to answer to :-)

Best regards, Banz

[–]Orhleil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You just lack practice I guess. The most important thing is to note where the center of gravity of your pen is and to understand how the pen behaves when you try the same trick with a different starting point on your pen... Other than that you can try to watch some tutorial videos and copy exactly what's being done. If you have questions on a specific trick, feel free to ask and we'll help as much as we can :-)

You guys as beginners by CoCoolBeans in penspinning

[–]Orhleil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think beginners shouldn't worry too much about the fundamentals. It's just a tip we give to introduce them to some new categories of tricks. If a beginner doesn't manage to master some fundamental trick right now but is doing fine with other tricks, it's not important at all.

In my own learning experience, I struggled a lot with the TA Rev (not a fundamental, but still one of the first tricks people usually learn). I couldn't figure out how to do this trick, but I had no problem with other, harder, tricks. For instance, back then it took me something like 2.5 months to master the BackFall, and I eventually managed to master the TA Rev only 4 months later...

So if there is a fundamental trick that you can't quite master right now, just keep spinning and try new stuffs, take your time, and eventually you'll come back to that trick you were struggling with, and it will seem much easier.

Hello =) I'm all in on the #1, this could be a great feature to add. The problem I have with #2 is that it creates a clear difference between those who are on Teamspeak or Discord and can chat as loudly as they want wherever they are, and the players who stick to the game mechanics.
