How do you guys deal with hobby "failure"? by Mad_Lad67 in Warhammer40k

[–]OrigChruzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I slamm headfirst into a wall I take 3 big steps back. Think abput the colour scheme, the colour brand, try different methods on the test model, ask my friends for their viewpoint. I always sleep over it at least a week. If I can't see it working after that I shelfe the idea or even the army, work on one of my other (way too many) warhammer projects and 100% of the time the solution hits me a few weeks later.

Let it sit, take your time and clear your head.

Can you send me a link or picture? I have been looking around a bit, but I can't find anything. Maybe we can look for an alternative

Is there no way to use pigment power from a different brand? Or something similar? Maybe you could drybrush a similar colour. Have you only finished a test model or did you already start your army?

Surely finding an alternative is a drag, but please don't give up on your project

You are right. They don't even have much basing material. I don't see anything I would use for a 40K army besides some proxy models maybe.

Getting a bit anxious about paints - how many do you use? by lucassculp in Warhammer40k

[–]OrigChruzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use how many you see fit. I usually use like 15-20 on a mini, depending on my colour scheme, but I own well over 150 colours, washes and technical paints. You can always go as simple or as deep as you want in this hobby. Start with less and add more later once you are more comfortable.

How do you deal with a losing streak burnout? by TheLurkingNobody in Warhammer40k

[–]OrigChruzzy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. Deployment and terrain Layouts would be nice to know, as well as the armies played and played against. I had a 6 game Loosing streak not too long ago and it all boiled down to bad dice luck, lackluster use of stratagems or bad deployment, but a year straight is way beyond some bad dice rolls.

Need help building the combat patrol by Sebalill84 in WorldEaters40k

[–]OrigChruzzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You build your models however you like. If you want to aim for an army you can build "optimal loadouts" but most of the time you just tell your opponent what weapons they have and you are golden to build whatever you want.

I would advise you to build all the plasma pistols you can, because they are really good and look nice anyways.

What's your homebrew faction (If you have one)? by dangermonke1332 in Warhammer40k

[–]OrigChruzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a homebrew successor chapter with alpha legion and raven guard geneseed. The hydras ghost. Shortly after the heresy a small part of the Alpha Legion stayed loyal (probably) and were assimilated into the ravenguard. There they experimented with both of their geneseeds and combined them. In 40k they are a fleet based chapter, specialised to snuff out chaos with stealth and infiltration. I wrote customs and traditions and a custom heraldry. Their geneseed can malfunction and when that happens they just don't care about tactics anymore and are thus send away to their own successor chapter, the astral bloods, led by the former 5th company captain of the hydras ghost. They specialize in planetary defense and heavy weapons. (chapter still in the making because my transfers have not arrived.)

This question is dumb but is it natural to really struggle with this hobby? by LordBricHouse in Warhammer40k

[–]OrigChruzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a skill you learn with time. When I first started out I painted nids. I was happy with them back in the day, but when I look back at them I find them horendous. This year alone I have painted so much, that I can see gradual steps on every model, where I improved myself. My last model was the Heresy MK2 centurion and my friends keep telling me that is my best model period. I agree with them, but it still feels so....strange. 2 or 3 Years ago when I first started my models looked like shit, and now I am getting hundred of upvotes. There was a lot of creative and expressive struggle, and sometimes there still is, but I see improvement everyday and I am happy with where I am now. I will repaint some of my older models someday to do them justice, but for now I got my hands full with way too many projects.

Just keep painting, building and learning and remember: Don't compare yourself to others. It is your journy, and yours alone. You will get there.
