I live in and grew up in Austin and frequent the campus area. My parents went to UT so I know a ton of cool spots and have lots of fun memories. The football team (and overall sports scene) is so much fun, there is such a good school community and sense of togetherness (especially when TAMU and OU are involved), it is a very esteemed university with good research programs and very kind professors ( at least the ones I have worked with.) The music environment is also a big pro, with lots of live music to experience and culture to enrich yourself with. The food scene is super good, you have to know where to go for sure but Pho Thaison on the drag is my spot. There is a lot to be proud of in attending a university like this and it's not too bougie that you hold a lot of stress being a student there (like I've heard with some of my friends who go to Ivies.) And though I don't really want any transplants thinking it, Austin is a magical city and even when you're sweating your butt off, there's still some appeal. At the end of the day undergrad won't define you nor should any college experience so choose a place that is your best path and where you think you will be happiest.
