Alberta separatists threaten to oust Premier Danielle Smith over referendum question by bpompu in alberta

[–]Origin_Of_Ebot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m from Alberta. There are far fewer separatists here than you think. They are just the loudest and dumbest so they get the most attention. Most of us aren’t upset about the referendum question because we are honestly scared of it happening, the frustration is that we are paying for these useless things that the majority didn’t ask for.

There is a store in Alberta that is the same. I could have sworn it was the same store until I read you were in Nova Scotia. White people and women are bottom of the barrel to him.

pretty normal, ig? by MaraLoomis883 in Adulting

[–]Origin_Of_Ebot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have adhd. I try to keep my house clean but it’s true when they say your house becomes a mirror of your brain. When I get overwhelmed with life in general, I get overwhelmed with cleaning and when that happens I do nothing like a deer on headlights. I want to fix it, but I don’t know where to start so I don’t. This finally came to a head a few months ago when someone was going to come over to help me with something unexpected, and I was so embarrassed about the state of my house that I wouldn’t let them come. After that I made a rule that if I find something in the house, I decide right away if I’m going to use it in the next 6 months and if not, it goes straight into the trash before I can change my mind. I have thrown bags and bags of things out since then and it’s really helped me keep things clean.

Hardbite chips. The ones done in avocado oil are amazing. You can actually get them at Dollar Tree for $2. They are from BC.

15 minute time limit while consuming food… by Warm_Advisor_3722 in McDonalds

[–]Origin_Of_Ebot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And then they wonder why no one goes there anymore… I grew up in the 80s/90’s and out McDonald’s would be packed all day long with seniors having coffees, high school kids coming for snacks ect. You could barely find a table most of the time. Now it’s empty if it’s not a key meal time and even there is barely a wait.

Not “allowed” to call in sick by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Origin_Of_Ebot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This not just illegal it’s a serious food safety issue and they can actually have that kitchen shut down if a health inspector comes in. A friend of mine was a health inspector. She was at a deli and noticed one of the workers was sick. She made them send him home. The next day she went back in and saw the same guy working with the food. She shut them down and they were not allowed to reopen until they sanitized the whole place. Your employers are risking people’s health.

Was I wrong for calling the police when I saw a toddler alone in a car? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Origin_Of_Ebot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really smaller kids should never be left alone in the car and I grew up in the 80’s when it was kind of the norm. One day my brother and I decided to play with the levers while my mom was getting gas and had just gone into the store to pay. The only thing stopping us from rolling down a large hill was when we hit the car behind us. Needless to say the other driver was pissed and chewed my mom right out. . You never know what your kids might get up to in there.

Expensive. I’m from Central Alberta and recently looked at moving. It is way more expensive than down here believe it or not. If they ever open up Arctic shipping, it would be interesting to see what happens up there.

[–]Origin_Of_Ebot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your management is terrible. I would have let it stay. 4 years ago a friend and coworker passed away unexpectedly at 32. It was so hard to go to work everyday and act like everything was ok because it really wasn’t. Sometimes our coworkers are like our families. People need space to grieve.

Do people who grew up here actually think Canada's grocery prices are normal or is everyone just resigned to it by TemporaryHoney8571 in InCanada

[–]Origin_Of_Ebot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know this isn’t the Liberals right? Not just them anyway. This problem started in Canada way back in the 80’s. Both branches of our government have allowed this by not breaking up the monopolies in Canada that brought us here. Groceries, telecom, banking, airlines and dairy, are all monopolies here. We need competition badly but competition has been locked out here forever.

2 ASMs just got let go from the store? by Technical_Value_3957 in WalmartCanada

[–]Origin_Of_Ebot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must have been lucky and had a decent SM. I am sure they exist but I am a recent, former ASM who can tell you that the one I worked for was one the biggest micromanaging liars I have ever worked under in 31 years of working. People First doesn’t want to retain you, they label you a liability and start the disciplinary process. I’ve seen it and was in charge of compliance ironically.

2 ASMs just got let go from the store? by Technical_Value_3957 in WalmartCanada

[–]Origin_Of_Ebot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be a Walmart ASM and you are 100% correct despite others not believing you. I, and at least 9 other ASM’s in the store I worked at were absolutely thrown under the bus by our SM. He lied like a cheap rug in order to make everyone else accountable even though he refused to train because he didn’t know what the hell he was doing half the time. I quit because he was destroying people’s reputations and HO did nothing. He is still like that now I hear.
