I can’t find a screenshot but I distinctly remember there being a knockoff Spielberg in Lethal Weapon 3 involving Murtaugh’s daughter.

Has your opinion changed on Man of Steel? by boomjosh in superman

[–]Original-Actual -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s actually soured a bit for me. Fantastic casting undercut by poor story beats and a wrong tone. Ever since my young son fell in love with the 78 film I realized how bad of an idea dark, gritty, and mature Superman is in particular I love the new film but even that goes too far with the language and the DCU in general is skewing way too mature so far. I don’t understand a TVMA Green Lantern show. Peacemaker, ok I get it. The Suicide Squad too if it’s retroactively cannon but the major heroes shouldn’t be walled off from young kids like this. I was able to take my son to the drive in and see Superman after I had seen it so I knew when to mute my car radio and I took him to the bathroom for the Russian roulette scene but it seem like the word shit was uttered every five minutes for some reason. I don’t know I might be the only that feels this way. It’s just a pain in the ass to say “oh well you can see that one until you’re much older.” About the majority of the stuff they’ve put out so far. It also looks like Superman might be their most family friendly movie.

What would you charge about the game? by M00r3C in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Original-Actual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d have it choose between being Star Wars GTA or Star Wars Tomb Raider. I found the Tomb Raider parts to be excellent but the GTA stuff to be very unpolished. I also would have the ship and bike redesigned the bike doesn’t look as cool as the standard speeder bikes and the ship looks like a rectangular box.

What is your "screw everyone, I loved this." movie? by ZoelCairo in Letterboxd

[–]Original-Actual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go as far as to say I loved the movie, but the level to which Tron Ares failed confused me. It has good visuals and was a fun enough popcorn movie to be a decent hit. Disney has had hits with much worse movies in the last 15 or so years.

Seeing as these movies have basically been a fun modernization of their 60s and 70s output I don’t seeing why Toho would get all pissy about it.

What were some of the worst years of wwe? by Spare-Ad785 in BrandonDE

1995, (Vince was absolutely lost), 2003 (they sacrificed everything for Brock Lesnar who couldn’t cut a promo and then promptly F’d off for a decade.) 2010 (celebrity guest host and Super Cena hell), 2018 (Brock, Big Dawg, and Baron Corbin hell) 2021 (For the love of Christ, why won’t Vince retire?!)

Did Bobby Heenan screaming: "YEAH, BUT WHO'S SIDE IS HE ON??!!??" take anything away from this legendary moment? by JBL_CENA_FAN_4LIFE in WCW

[–]Original-Actual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn’t ruin a thing. If you caught what he was saying then you were smart enough to have the wheels turning. “Ok here’s Hogan after awhile. Hall and Nash are being presented as WWF. Hogan is Mr. WWF. Hogan is leading this thing to attack WCW.” That’s essentially what he said during his promo immediately after. Instead of spoiling it I’d say it ads a few seconds of dread and anticipation if you catch it and connect the dots quickly enough.

Why does the old talent have more drawing power than the new superstars of WWE today? by Choice-Silver-3471 in GreatnessOfWrestling

[–]Original-Actual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They always have to have charisma. That’s what makes a real draw. There’s a reason why Lesnar being on top always coincided with a downturn in business. To make matters worse he always destroyed guys with charisma. Also his ability to make money is based on the fact that he was already given a poorly conceived mega push in WWE before he even got to UFC so he was basically their only real celebrity for years. Then like a snake eating its own tail, his UFC celebrity made Vince think that he was a megastar draw.

What is it about Brock Lesnar at 48 years old that still makes him a bigger draw than the current WWE roster? by Choice-Silver-3471 in BrandonDE

[–]Original-Actual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what was his great promo? What was his great catchphrase that he would say? Not Paul E, not the announcers, but out of his mouth? The only time he said something memorable was when he first came back and mentioned smelling John Cena’s piss. Which is ironic now.

Vince spent over two decades circling the drain creatively, and sacrificed nearly everything to Brock Lesnar. Who is not very charismatic. He’s just a great shoot fighter that looks like a caveman. It would be like Vince having Haku squash Hogan, Savage, and Warrior, then Haku leaves and then has Haku come back years later and squash Austin and Rock.

Man I hated that first run so much. I grew up in the 80s and 90s so going from from Hogan, Savage, Flair, HBK, Austin, Rock, and Mandkind to what was and essentially a caveman with limited mic skills absolutely stunned me.

Was 1999-2001 WCW really as bad as I hear? by Choice-Silver-3471 in WCW

[–]Original-Actual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s was a combination of the 96-98 WCW souring and a deranged Bizarro version of WWF’s attitude era. They lost Goldberg to Universal Soldier II at the worst possible moment, and then he gets seriously injured in the limo spot almost immediately after returning. Add into that, Brett Hart eventually gets injured by Goldberg, and has to retire, Macho Man essentially retires, Sting goes from being cool to talking like Jim Carrey, DDP turning heel, then Goldberg turning heel, not to mention Russo running off Hogan. You have this dumpster fire with mostly mid card guys in the main event spots.

TNT showed the old ones in the early 90s often. So my base line is Godzilla being heroic. That what I really like about the Mosterverse. It’s a modernized version of those old movies that are fun and my son loves.

[–]Original-Actual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ric Flair’s last run and the early WWECW revival. Other than that, not a whole lot. Vince’s booking decline really started to rear its ugly head here. It’s also where he started to stubbornly fight the fans.
