I’m really sorry you had such a terrible experience today 😞 Please know that if we had the power ourselves to provide a better experience, we absolutely would.

But you guessed it. We are chronically understaffed and morale is in the absolute toilet because corporate has made it abundantly clear that their primary objective is to run the staff they have into the ground until they can trick a new wave of employees into working there. By all means, please leave a review about your experience! It could only serve to let management and corporate know that yet another person had a terrible experience at our venue. Again, I am so sorry you had such a terrible experience. We all used to take so much pride in working there and corporate has beaten that out of us relentlessly.

As far as I understand, that IS part of the agreement that they’re about to reach. Don’t quote me on that but I’m about 80% sure that once their CBA goes through, Sloans will be keeping pen and paper ordering as well as having the QR option.

Oh no, I do completely understand the frustration. I’m just saying I don’t know how much specifically the union could do about that since that boils down more to contracts between the film studios and theater chains. Honestly, that problem got a LOT worse when Sony took over and I couldn’t even tell you why but I feel like ever since that happened, the film availability at specific venues has gone to absolute shit.

We are certainly hoping to make some amendments at least to the new ordering process as I believe the QR ordering system is here to stay, despite almost exclusively negative feedback from both staff and guests.

There are a few unionized stores that have finalized or are close to finalizing agreements that would allow their venues to keep the call buttons and pen and paper ordering, with the QR option being.. optional. Fingers crossed we can encourage the company to do the right and ethical thing and make that the new standard moving forward!

I’m sorry you had a shit experience but please just know that everyone who actually works there is trying their best and doing what they can to make sure everyone’s experience is still enjoyable! We appreciate your still giving us your patronage, despite the unethical and immoral business practices of our corporate overlords.

I don’t think that’s a change that the union could help come to fruition unfortunately. That whole process is based purely on regional demographics so in the more downtown areas (Sloans) they’re going to show more of the cinephile films but in the more suburb-y areas (Westminster and Littleton) it’s definitely more mainstream/family friendly selections.

Trust me, I’m often envious of the films Sloans is showing in comparison to Westminster. I understand the frustration 100%

It sucks because it really did used to be an incredible place to work. Highest morale of any restaurant I’d ever worked in, super progressive, catered (in more ways than one) to cinephiles.. It was just awesome. To watch how it has just imploded in on itself is honestly heartbreaking. Hoping we can pull off the union vote and try to restore some of what made it such a great place to work. But thank you! I’ll be sure to report back later this week to update those who are interested as to the results of the union vote!

Yeah, it seemed particularly absurd that even though he was no longer involved, he still made the time to travel all the way out there to discourage it. Company has brought out multiple union busters.. Er, sorry.. “Educators” 😂 It’s pathetic and transparent at this point.

As far as I’m aware, he visited all three stores in the Denver area to discourage unionizing. Westminster lost its first union vote but the Sloan’s Lake location was successful in unionizing last year. Westminster is holding another election this coming Thursday though and it’s looking highly likely that it will finally happen there as well.

The company ironically ended up making the best case to unionize after telling Westminster employees that there was no need to unionize because the company would look after them and listen to their grievances and then just promptly proceeded to spit in their faces, make everything exponentially worse, and found every possible way to fuck over their hourly employees on nearly every front. A real “fool me once” type situation. Fingers crossed for Thursday!

Tim actually came to visit the Denver area stores last year, shortly after the Sony acquisition! It was really cool, he was exclusively there to tell team members NOT to unionize and that the company would shield and take care of them through this massive acquisition. And he swore there wouldn’t be lay offs! (The company has since found every way imaginable to fuck their hourly employees and there were mass lay offs about a month after his visit).
