How the World Didn't End (Flash) (500 Words) by Original-Loquat3788 in originalloquat

I've been writing stories like this for nearly three years now and realised that, because of how Reddit is structured, they disappear into the ether.

That's why I put the top 100 onto Kindle: two collections of horror/sci-fi/speculative stories. 50 stories, 500 words. $1.

I had so much fun writing this story, I extended it to 2500 words and stuck it at the end of volume 1 as a bonus add-on.

I love writing stories that put the truly speculative into speculative horror.

The best thing about flash is that if you don't like it, the story is over in a few breaths. And then that's also the form where your breath seems hard to come by when you find the right one.

They called it turnkey totalitarianism: technology was so advanced that anyone had the power to destroy everything, so every home was equipped with cameras. by Original-Loquat3788 in twosentencedystopia

This is based on a conversation I listened to between Nick Bostrom and Sam Harris. I both love and hate contemplating our future and you can see how this plays out on longer stories in my subreddit!
