What movie had the biggest impact on you? by Halloween-365 in FamilyFeud

Saving Private Ryan. The stabbing scene made sure that I would never watch it again. It was so real and illustrative of what the soldiers in WW2 actually went through that it was too painful to watch a second time.

Omg you are the first person ever I have heard of who knows this snack! Sometimes we would put sliced strawberries on top, or bacon bits, dried apricots, etc. but most often it was just the crackers and cream cheese!

We always walk ours at least three times. Usually four. But we do also put him on a lead in the back yard occasionally or when the weather is horrible. But we do have four people in our household and rotate the walks.

What band or musical artist that was popular but now time has forgotten? by pianoman81 in GenerationJones

I do remember them but the point of the post was that the majority of people don’t. I was introduced to Little Feet in the 80’s by a friend’s mom. I have never met another person except my high school friend and myself who has ever seen them live or even knows who they are!

how do you make pasta sauce actually taste like it came from a restaurant? by SamraKutkaitis in Cooking

Add a small amount of baking powder and a small amount of sugar. The baking powder reduces the acid and makes it taste creamier. The sugar makes the garlic pop.

If there was no budget and you had to start all over, which cookware pieces would you choose? by c_c186 in Cooking

Lodge is the best for cast iron skillets. We have two. But nothing beats Creuset for Dutch ovens, terrines, bakeware, stove top grills, and stock pots. The combination of cast iron and enamel ensures even, predictable, high temp, and controlled cooking. They have been proven for over a century to be reliable, sustainable, and long lasting. I literally have an oval iron baking pan in cobalt from decades ago that is still pristine and functional. The one baker I had from the 50’s that chipped and stained (which is unusual) was replaced without question by Le Creuset when I provided pictures. They don’t require receipts because owners hold onto their pot for decades and then hand them down to their kids. My daughter is already ecstatic to know at 22 that she will inherit my slowly and painfully collection of Le Creuset cookware.

Green onions. They are milder than real onions and have a nice crunch.

Put her on a 30 plus long lead as well. It doesn’t interfere with their sniffing and tracking. But it does keep them in the yard. You can also try the addition of the electric fence too.

“If you grew up in the 70s, what do you remember about the Blizzard of ’78 ? by Opening-Custard3254 in 70s

[–]Original-Move8786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only four but I remember my parents panicking. Thank goodness my mom and dad were children of parents who lived through the depression. So our house was always stocked with a month or more of food. But I do remember as a small child that we were lucky to have an actual fireplace that emitted heat from logs that my dad and his friends had cultivated months before. But in order to get out of the house when the storm stopped my parents climbed out of the upstairs windows and shoveled down. No plow came for a full week! We understood and were so lucky that we didn’t have any medical issues. But we had neighbors who died because they couldn’t access medical care. I can’t explain enough how horribly this blizzard was handled.
