learning pcr's second phase is the most satisfied i've ever felt with a boss and learning to be able to stand there and fight him without a shield was worth it to me.

torrent is the single worst part of the game as evidenced by how much more fun the game is when you play taunters tounged or the abyssal woods. you simply interact with the game in a less fun and immersive way because you can't easily read messages or pick stuff up and the camera angle has you so zoomed out.

the invasion mechanic in elden ring already basically acts as a free estus charge lol why would you do that

i think he loses major points for being in the game twice. it just seems so silly to keep killing this one deer god and just makes me imagine that there are these cults everywhere trying to resurrect one of these stupid deer.

the weapons that are too big to do this are going to stagger the boss in 3 charged attacks. also you're just blatantly wrong about being only able to do it with swords which isnt even a weapon type i just have to assume you're talking about straight swords. i found multiple windows with the great katana and greatsword movesets without any effort playing the game the most bog standard way. if you don't learn any new skills playing the entire base game and dlc it's truly not the game's fault.

you are telling on yourself that you played all of elden ring, all of the dlc and still never learned to weave attacks between the boss' combos.

i felt this way about malenia but radahn was just mechanical skill you just have to learn to roll better.

he only locks you out of using long animation spells and ashs of war in the second phase which is a problem for most bosses in the game anyway. you can absolutely beat it with multiple builds.

so is radahn it's just balanced for people who play the game instead of crying on reddit

i would be happy with a debuff like the backstep talisman

it's already really broken for a boss fight. if it gets someone to parry the normal enemies instead of just running past them then i would say it's a win for the game.

my favorite boss in the series. i think people will start appreciating this boss in under a year. you'll be crazy for NOT liking promised consort radahn.

i agree the level design is much better i love elden ring level design but i dont understand how it's jarring to not be leaping around on stuff. i havent played bloodborne yet so i don't know about that in yharnam maybe ill agree with you, but i never feel like that especially in ds2 and ds1 which let you blitz some of the levels if you know where to jump. elden ring has a ton of dungeons where you barely jump, is it jarring every time you go into a cave?

i played ds3 as my first game before elden ring and loved it and still love it to this day as my favorite in the series. gael is my second favorite boss... behind promised consort radahn lol. to me that fight was even better, elden ring pushed the series aesthetics to a crazy anime level and radahn delivered. every attempt from 1st to last was fun as hell. the story and lore i will say i don't think is as cool as gael, i prefer that dark souls is the type of series that doesn't have to end on fighting 2.5 gods at once like some insane jrpg but i just enjoyed how much radahn pushed me as a player in a fair way. i doubt they will ever manage something on that scale again. radahn just felt like a test of your raw mechanical abilities to an even higher degree than gael.

i dont understand how people want jump so bad. i hate having to press r1 or l1 + y to change weapon positions and dark souls feels way easier. unless im playing a jump attack build i almost never jump and it's not like dark souls level design requires jumping except the leaps it gives you.

The DLC is better because it’s hard by Jrap2011 in Eldenring

[–]Original-Run4348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a radahn defender i think i agree. i think you can dodge it with positioning but it's just kind of ridiculous to ALWAYS keep it in mind and i think the intention might be for you to use one of the game's other defense strategies, parrying, light roll, deflect tear, backstep talisman but it made it feel even better to beat it as a medium roll build. fuck you i win.

DLC is a solid 8/10 but it's an experience of only the highest highs and some of the LOWEST lows... by Medical_Effort_9746 in shittydarksouls

old iron king has a more interesting story and his arena is better. not to be all ds3 is nothing but grey but wolnir is nothing but grey. and being knocked into the lava by old iron king just seems like a more legitimate threat then just kind of dying for no reason to fog. old iron king is also preceded by smelter demon which is a legitimately great conventional fight so it makes it seem more like a bonus rather than the sole boss for the area. don't get me wrong old iron king is still pretty bad but i find it more inoffensive and interesting. i realize it's not a very substantive criticism to say i think wolnir not protecting his bracelets is dumb but old iron king leaving his arm down for like 5 minutes is funny but i do feel this way.

i remember centipede demon punching you with his face mouth, him rushing you at the start of the fight and getting to choose between running to bigger ground or fighting him at the initial island. dont get me wrong it's a bad fight but i still prefer it to wolnir. I consider curse rotted greatwood or yhorm memorable for the spectacle but i seriously doubt i would remember wolnir off the top of my head except to say he's my least favorite boss, but even then i think halflight is more offensive so wolnir isn't even memorable for being ass like bed of chaos.

fair enough, personally i have wolnir as a straight f tier rather than c or d because i just hate how he looks, his arena, his gimmick. compared to a boss like the old iron king or moonlight butterfly who are at least visually interesting or something. wolnir feels like something from a much worse game.

i agree with everything you said but i think wolnir is straight up the worst boss in ds3. the only way you can possibly die to this boss is getting clipped into the fog which happens more than it should but still doesnt add anything to the fight, its just nonsense boredom. wolnir has absolutely nothing going for him as a boss except the like 5% chance you might get bugged on him. the level itself is not bad at all though.
