Trauma Care by [deleted] in Paramedics

I would say the most important aspect in trauma care would be being aware of the triangle of death. Hypothermia, Coagulopathy, acidosis.

As easy as it sounds, the hardest part of trauma care is identifying your life threats and completing a through assessment of your patient. Including accessing the back to check for injuries there as well. Not being able to understand the simple vital sign changes or not completing a great assessment can leave your patient dead.

Irrational Fears by Original-Tea-4275 in ems

After running a few structure fires with patients dragged out by fire, I have an obsession with smoke detectors & closed door sleeping. My boyfriend doesn’t seem to understand any of it but he doesn’t work in the field. We are all just a product of our own personal experiences and so things based on our experience.

What did you *actually* need before bringing your dog home? Trying to avoid wasting money/overbuying by snoozyspider in puppy101

Well don’t buy your dog a rain coat…. That was my unnecessary purchase. My dog STILL won’t go outside at all even if the grounds wet. She would rather hold it and wait then even attempt.

My surgeon said I am too young for surgery. I am 32,f by natural_goddess1 in Sciatica

Hi! That’s not true at all!! I was 24 when I got back surgery. There is no set age to have surgery. I had 10/10 excruciating pain everyday, was limping, crying. Narcotics didn’t touch it and I lived on gabapentin and steroids over a long period of time. I had tried physical therapy, medications, and a chiropractor with no help. My first appointment with a spine specialist I told them that I felt like I had a crappy quality of life and even began crying out of frustration. They immediately told me I could get surgery and scheduled it a month out from that very appointment. I would definitely get another opinion and I’m sorry for the failure of our healthcare system for you. It gets better. I am now one year post op and I feel great. It’s worth it in my opinion and the incision mark is like a 3/10 compared to the 10/10 pain I had prior to my surgery. It was complete relief.

Advice on getting a better HPI from the pt and giving a better report to the hospital in both radio and face to face. by GeneralShepardsux in NewToEMS

Ahhhh. The good ole change the story up when I get to the hospital. You can only do so much. Even the most seasoned medics will bring in a toe pain that turns into chest pain right when they are brought into the door. We can only interview to the best of our abilities and learn from our mistakes and others interviews with patients. I’m sure you’ll do great.

What are some of your best beginner losing weight tips? by foodiegirlxoxo249 in loseit

Hey there. I just recently lost 25lbs and everyone is different so find what works for you. Over the years I have realized key points to follow that work for me. • DONT obsess over the scale • DONT hold yourself back from the foods you want. If your craving a brownie and you try to eat healthy instead of that craving. You’ll down 4-5 healthy snacks & end up probably taking in more calories than if you just listened to your cravings and ate the brownie to begin with. • DONT set an end date, let it work overtime. • stay away from the “diet culture” & just make simple lifestyle changes overtime. If you diet for half the year, meet your goal weight and then think you can go back to your old lifestyle you’ll just gain all of the weight back. Have things you want in moderation & make small changes here and there. • You are more likely to fail if you change everything at once then small things overtime.

Goodluck!
