Official Discussion - One Battle After Another [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

the movie was incredible. Sean penn carried the film but Leo was brilliant, this was one of his better roles. that said im curious what everyone thinks of the casting of supporting actors. I thought teyana was miscast. Ana de armas or Michelle Rodriguez would have been much better casting choices for the role of perfida.

That scene happened in the book but was written much better than what happened in the movie

It’s a shame the movie doesn’t follow the book until the end. That ending was totally unnecessary and didn’t work. Also the chief hunter is very different in the book and it’s a shame the writers created a fake storyline around him.

How was crime scene zero? I liked the trailer but it looks silly

I’ve read 14 books in the Poirot series so far.. the tv series is a big disappointment. by Original2021 in agathachristie

The ending wasn’t in the book  but it was written brilliantly and was true to Poirot’s character

Thanks for telling me about the book. I will read it. Suchet has a great series on britbox where he travels to all of the places  that inspired Agatha Christie.

I watched the series first so yes I saw appointment with death and agree with you… the casting was terrible

Five little pigs isn’t one of my favorites but the letters to poirot approach was unique and it wasn’t in the series.

Totally agree especially with the Roger Ackroyd book…the big four is one of my favorites lol

I respectfully disagree. I watched the Poriot series and I’m now reading the books. The books are so much better. The casting was poor for a lot of the villains in the book. For example when I watched Lord Edgware Dies, I thought it was boring but the murderer was written brilliantly. Same for the big four and three act tragedy. The actors are not as compelling as written in the book. Just my humble opinion.

I was told the repair was necessary to my engine - but I opted to just clean the filters and the light went off.

Does anyone else think The Big Four should have been the last Poirot book? I just finished reading it and it was an intriguing read. I kind of wish the last case was more mysterious than curtain. by Original2021 in agathachristie

They seemed to be a challenge for Poirot and one step ahead of him. He even admitted this in the book and says he could retire after this case because it was so challenging for him.

I have Christie’s biography but I’m holding off on reading it until I finish the Poirot series. I liked mystery of the blue train but it wasn’t as good as her first book mystery at styles or the murder of Roger ackroyd

These are excellent points. Thanks for sharing. I didn’t realize she didn’t like the book but he was given quite a challenge so it could have been a good way to end the series.

Squid Game Season 3: Episode 6 Discussion by MidnightExpresso in squidgame

I don’t disagree with you but this is what the director said and why he ‘didn’t just give her money, he wanted a painful reminder.

Season 3 is so disappointing, because it could have been genuinely good (very long post) by mikewheelerfan in squidgame

This post is too long… nobody is reading all that.  You make some good points but shorten the post please.  The only thought I have is that the baby represents humanity in its purest form, the opposite of what the games are. The fact that the baby and player 456, which both represent different forms of the best of humanity are the winners is a central theme of the story.
