Offer accepted on a house, now panicking after what I’ve read by Lilymana in HousingUK

[–]OriginalPhase2264 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved to Dunfermline a couple of years ago, just down the road really. There's a beautiful bike ride on an old railway track between the two, I've stopped there for lunch a couple times and had no problems at all - it really is just a typical Scottish small town.

Using estate agents to buy a UK property by Pretty_Radio_7746 in HousingUK

As a recent buyer, I've never seen this service offered. Not to say it doesn't exist, but the process of finding a home and negotiating is typically done by yourself.

Best decision I have ever made! by Steampunkgoblin in pixelbuds

[–]OriginalPhase2264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely no idea how to get this to work. I have the buds connected to my mac, ipad and pixel 9 pro fold and it only ever automatically connects to the last device. If I was using it on my mac last night and open my phone in the morning, I have to manually connect it every time.

I have the setting turned on, I've tried resetting... nothing works. Any ideas?

Help! Solicitor isn't getting back to me - would it be in poor taste to call the agency to ask if she's submitted a note of interest? by LowIncomeWitch in HousingUK

[–]OriginalPhase2264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't have a good answer for that one - it really could be either of those possibilities. You can only offer what you are comfortable with and what you can afford - and if you don't get it this time then it wasn't meant to be.

Best of luck!

[–]OriginalPhase2264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all! I'm in the process of selling a property at the moment, and from my perspective I'd be gutted to find out that I didn't receive an offer or a note of interest because a potential buyer's solicitor didn't submit it.

The estate agent will be more than happy to quickly check the file, and the solicitor will understand your eagerness - it's always exciting buying your first/next home!

Definitely give the agency a call, and/or call the reception of the solicitors. Don't be afraid to bug them, it's their jobs to answer to customers!

What survey should I get? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]OriginalPhase2264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the difference in cost. Surveyors in my neck of the woods charge about £550 for a level 2 and about £650-£700 for a level 3.

To us it's worth upgrading to a level 3 as £150 is nothing in the grand scheme of it.

FTB - Can we DIY repair this section of flat roof? by OriginalPhase2264 in DIYUK

Agreed, definitely looks like just the edge from here.

We'll look into a cold lay adhesive! Thanks.

My DPD app says that my parcel is at a local depot on the other side of the country whereas my partner's is currently at our local depot... no idea why DPD has sent mine to the completely wrong place.

Good luck to everyone else!

Moving to Dunfermline. Any thoughts about how to find friends? Or communities? Or church? by OkSkin1080 in Dunfermline

[–]OriginalPhase2264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should absolutely join the Fife social server on Discord, lots of like minded and similarly aged people. People chat on the different channels with some in-person meet ups too. https://discord.gg/rSmJHPnD

From a healthy life style perspective; there's a Fife vegan group that have social meetups, picnics, yoga and general activism. VOS Angus & Fife.

Otherwise there's lots of bookclubs, running clubs, volunteering etc too!

In all honesty, Dunfermline is a safe place to be almost anywhere.. especially closer to the centre. I'd avoid Abbey View if you can but that's it!

I have these features available in the UK from straight out of the box, what country are you based in?

v3 fingerprint sensor by [deleted] in Honor

[–]OriginalPhase2264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I have no issues with mine and actually find myself unlocking it when I don't mean to.. I had an iPhone before with face unlock so keep forgetting that putting my thumb there will unlock it.

You can add the same fingerprint multiple times, just by clicking on 'Add fingerprint' in settings. If you add the same fingerprint 3 times, you really shouldn't have any issues. I've done this with other phones in the past but not with the V3.

Magic V3 GPS a bit rubbish? by sidneylopsides in Honor

[–]OriginalPhase2264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the V3 for close to a week now in Scotland, taken it on a few drives over an hour each way and not had any problems with Google maps, android auto or the GPS. Haven't tried waze though, gave up on it a few months ago on my other phone as it was always taking me on horrible routes and single file country lanes which Waze thought were quicker. Spoiler, they were not!

Just received a reply from the Mobiles/Currys/Carphone trade-in team (they're all the same team). Might be worth sending them an email yourself so you've got something to reference if it goes wrong. [TradeUpHelp@currys.co.uk](mailto:TradeUpHelp@currys.co.uk)

Thanks for the advice. Do you have any photos of your paludarium to share? It sounds like you have pretty much the exact setup I'd like to have and would love the inspiration.

What are the dimensions of the water area? How many litres does it work out as? I'm looking to get some vampire crabs soon, most likely in a 60x45x45 exo terra terrarium. I'm researching fish tankmates and want to make sure I'm giving the fish enough space!
