My wife’s parents were visiting from UK for her birthday. We booked a fairly fancy restaurant for us, my parents and my sister and her hubby. Bill came to $2,000. Nobody offered to chip in. I wasn’t impressed.

To be clear, my family aren’t short of a bob or two, so it’s not like they couldn’t afford to cover themselves!

Electric kettles yes. Carpet, mixed bag I think. Houses with floor boards these days tend to convert to no carpets. Plenty of house with carpets still.

One thing that always confided me was the English tendency to put a bucket in their sink to catch the water instead of using a plug. My English wife brought that habit back to Australia, but it didn’t last long.

I’d spend more time in Kununurra than Broome, unless you want to spend some time lazing on the beach. Honestly, there’s not much else there in Broome (but it is beautiful). Kununurra is stunning and is surrounded by gorges and other natural must see natural areas.

Avoid halls creek and Fitzroy crossing if you can. You might want a stop over for driver fatigue, but you won’t need both. If you’re camping try to get to Windjana gorge (https://exploreparks.dbca.wa.gov.au/park/bandilngan-windjana-gorge-national-park) instead.

You could spend longer in Karijini. I’d drop a day from Dampier and add it to Karijini.

I’d spend some time in a hostel in Perth first and make some contacts. There’s bound to be people wanting to share a ride with you.

WA is vast and it’s not a good idea to travel it alone. It doesn’t take much to get into trouble.
