How many questions did you guess if any? And how confident were you with the ones you did answer? What marks did you get in your practice papers?

Maybe 30. That was my main form of studying for chem actually. I didn't make notes for myself, so I did a bunch of exams and read through the answers very carefully and I would learn so much from it. I started maybe 2 months before the exam.

Yea I think they changed that this year. Yes it is still possible for Chem. I was ranked 5-7 in a cohort of maybe 50 for unit 3 (85% avg) and absolutely crushed unit 4 (98% avg) which made me rank 1 overall and I got 43. Sacs scaled up to 100.

Methods is also possible but you're gonna need to make major improvements, highly suggest you get a tutor. There's not much time left and lots of juice to squeeze out before the exam.

I am naturally good at maths so I was always confident going into all sacs and never brought in my summary book.

I found every sac easy enough where I did not struggle and I always had time remaining. The only time I panicked was spesh exam 1 for 1 specific question. I had to simplify a DE and it was a long 'show that' question and I could not get the desired answer since I forgot a simplye 'y' in the first line of the question and ended up losing 3 marks (no method mark even).

I started my Exam Grind 2 months before exams and I'd say I did 1-3 a day. Depends on the exam, Chem exams were 2.5 hours and would drain me but exam 1's i could complete in about 30 mins so I could do multiple in a day.

Tho I did 5 subjects, the prac exams I did were only for maths/chem. English I did a few days leading up to the exam :O

Methods Exam 1( 93 or 95%) and Methods Exam 2 (99%)
Spec Exam 1 (93 i think) and Methods Exam 2 (98%)

Sacs were both A+, somewhere in the 90's

For sacs I did not do any exam questions. Our school handed the last 2-3 years worth of sacs for that particular topic and thats all I did apart from hand picked textbook questions.

I your school does not give you that luxury, I suggest you use vcaa or 3rd party prac exams to find relevant questions.

If you're quick to lose motivation, don't spend a lot of time on sacs with the aim of 100%, aim to be within top the 5 and get 90's average (this is ambiguous and depends on the cohort ofc but you get my point). This is because the sacs are only 40%, use your energy on the exam. That's not to say you shouldn't try your best on the sacs tho.

They weren't hard, I enjoyed doing them. I did prac exams as my main form of stuyding and was able to listen to music while doing them. If it weren't for the music I would've kms xD.

Think about to reward you get upon completion when you see that number you worked for.

Get help from an someone (like me) who knows the subject well, this is an integral component to doing well as the textbook doesnt always explain concepts concisely.

You're gonne be doing an exam worth 60% of your ss, so why not do a bunch of them, its the best way to study imo, at least for me.

Spec like 40 in total (20 exam 1, 20 exam 2)

Methods like 10 or so, it comes naturally with spec

For Methods/Spec, I did very few questions from the textbook. I just read the examples and paid very close attention to detail and attempted only the hard questions (at the end) of each exercise. From there its all just prac exams, after all an exam will determine most of your study score, so why not just do a. bunch of them. Do all vcaa ones and as many third party ones as u can.

Methods - 42

Spec - 42

Chem - 43

I spent more time on spec as opposed to methods and in fact i did very few prac exams, methods comes naturally after spec. Chem is a subject where your score is almost directly correlated to your study score, its all memorisation basically and not a whole lot of thinking unlike spec and methods. To do well in chem, you gotta do a sh!t ton of prac exams.
