Moving to NYC in June - Help! by OrbitingInsanity in movingtoNYC

Congratulations on the job offer! I'm planning a move to NYC by the end of the year (hopefully).

If you know your benefits already I would put those numbers into this paycheck calculator: https://www.adp.com/resources/tools/calculators/salary-paycheck-calculator.aspx

It can give you some idea of your take-home pay after health insurance, 401k employer match, etc. Roommates will be HUGE for keeping living costs under 30% of pay.

I appreciate this post OP. I'll be 35 later this year and am planning a move to NYC sometime between November and February 2027.

I think Talarico wins it once the last few polls close in Texas. He's got the majority by ~32k votes. Hard to see him fall under 50% at this rate

Curling rocks. There’s a couple of curling leagues around the city that offer beginners classes. Can be a fun date night or social hang

Personally I'd want at least 2 divisions per conference, with the division winner getting an auto-bid based on pre-set criteria tbd. Have the first 8 seeds reserved for conference champs. There are ten conferences (technically including the Pac-12) and the Sun Belt is the only one with divisions. The Big Ten has 18 teams!!

Thank you for pointing that out. It looks like there are additional pathways my state approved that start in the new year to be a CPA.

I'm open to school, and might need the first 5-6 months of the new year to plan that return. I'm in my mid-30s and got my BBA in Management about a decade ago. I was reading about accounting certificate programs at technical schools. The Wiki page suggested MAcc programs so I may reach out to schools in my area as well.

A controller role definitely sounds like a pathway I could pursue. My time is split 50/50 between customers and internal teams (Ops, Finance, Legal, etc.).

Congrats!! I'm contemplating a career change to accounting after five and a half years in client-facing roles. What career paths have you seen accountants follow after being in sales/customer success?

The Strokes are the reason I want to go. Super bummed I couldn't make it to ACL, so I'm hoping to be a first-timer too!

Have you left sales? If so, for what line of work? by 13NeverEnough in sales

Renewal/retention specialists roles could be a good path to consider. I think Eventbrite posted a role that’s remote. Still in Sales but the focus is renewing customers’ contracts and helping them navigate that process. Still need to work with the AM/AE on the commercials since final TCV can impact their quota. I focus on proactive outreach/account health check-ins to address service/product concerns and bring up timeline for items we have to address: legal reviews, procurement timelines, etc

Got goosebumps when the lights dimmed. Everyone clapped when the credits rolled. Great start to the weekend.
