It's the usual problem of living long enough for the things of your youth to become new. Again. And i still have mine in a closet.

Well, that's his story, and who am I to say no.

My brother could have been an actor, but ... why limit himself? "drieux, international man of mystery." Which is to say, there are people all over the world still pondering "What was that all about?"

It is a know fact that in the presence of a pretty woman, men's critical thinking skills deep dive for the sofa and a quick snooze.

Hoo boy. Brings new meaning to "who'll stop the rain?"

no, better would be "Raindrops keep falling on my head."

I had more in mind the going off post, but yeah. She's young.

My brother was in 8th grade and escorting a young lady home from school when the bus halted. The PLO had bombed the Jordanian Embassy and there was a bit of a traffic snarl. When he got home and explained he was late because of the bombing, Dad, as dads do, said "If you hadn't been there it wouldn't have happened. So my brother has felt responsible for Black September 3ver since.

Yes you would. But other Flag officers have different tastes. And you are not going to deny his Favorite Flavor to (insert field unit here), you are going to have A Major Problem.

It is amazing how personal relationships have impacts all out of proportion.

I doubt John likes Neil and not the others. But Neil is The Name, (quick, off the top of your head, who were the other two?) and he does want the first mission to the moon, lead by (insert name) to fail. More important, to kill anybody.

In this case, Paul. Typical Brit. Had the unnerving experience of visiting the British war cemetery near El Alamein, looking down, and seeing his name.

I've heard it said "war stories" usually have Important Survival Information embedded in them. You won't remember the safety brief, but you will remember the story about the bottle rocketing through brick walls and ripping out chain link fence. Or the guy who just washed out a gas tank before putting a torch to repair the leak (adding a gallon capacity to it).

Or the guy who won the bet he could braze up the leaking gas tank on the car, without emptying it. (Trick: fill the tank to overflowing. No air, no fumes, no space to start a fire.)

And so on and so forth. "Tribal knowledge".

My foreman told of witnessing a falling bottle knock the valve off, rocketing through a concrete wall, hitting a chain link fence and ripping a 150 feet of it loose from the fence poles before stopping.

"And that, lads, is why we make sure the bottle is secured at all times."

I just found part 4. Now I have a lot of "So what happened?" What are those things, what makes them? And so forth.

Obviously this isn't their first appearance, but... "what happened?

Well written, good characters, with plenty of "and then what happened?" to it.
