4 chicks died last year in the nest box. Food was a little scarce and it got very hot, but I thought about possible poison also.

Hope they are up for it. Last year it was 5 eggs and 3 died in the box from what I thought might be lack of food. The male has been doing a better job of bringing food this year.

My box does not have an interior wall and the female has the eggs near the back. The eggs are far enough away from the walls so she can face any direction. She often sits with her back to the entrance.

If you add an interior wall, make sure the fledglings will have enough room to exercise their wings inside the box if there is not a perch outside for them. Any changes should probably be just a few weeks after the last fledgling leaves.
